What is your FA package? Hate to pry, but...

@matt4200

Major: Polisci
GPA: 3.94
Major GPA:4.0
EFC: 00017

@sonic23 - I guess you were right, damn that sucks I never knew that.

@nickkwooddd - Damn those are just about perfect stats and with a 0 EFC you’re definitely gonna get tons of grants and scholarships when the officials come out

@matt4200 yeah my efc is actually 17 (typo) which still isnt much. Hoping for it, I applied for alot of scholarships and right now I am crossing my fingers for an email about the regents scholarship lol.

@Matt4200 lol yea it sucks but im happy as long as blue n gold covers my tuition

I thought regents scholarship for ucsb was only offered for freshman?

@mr401k - it is, but I’m assuming he means for other UC campuses.

@nickkwooddd - You should get it at at least one campus with your GPA for your major.

@sonic23 - Did you apply for any other scholarships?

At ucr I would have to take out almost 6,500 in loans. They gave me more, but it was a parent loan. I qualified for the blue and gold so I’m confused a bit. Will I get this package basically at all of the UCs, or are some colleges more giving? I am disappointed after hearing some of you guys got full-rides.

@ccnube - What do you mean by a full ride? lol

If you mean that our entire COA is covered then I didn’t see one person who got that yet.

For most people the Cal Grant will cover Tuition and they have to hope they get a scholarship or Grant to help pay for housing and living expenses.

Also each UC has different financial aid amounts, and at this point nothing is official.

I just realized the room & board is factored into the 34,000. Yeah! I am trying to figure out what all this means. What does COA mean?

@ccnube cost of attendance

@Matt4200 yea i did but not many. If i do get an outside scholarship doesnt that bring down my uc aid?

UCR:

Cal grant: 12,192
Pell grant: 4,480
UCR grant: 5,470
Work Study: 1,500
Federal direct unsubsidized loan: 2,000
Federal direct stafford loan: 4,500

*I will decline the parent loan I got, since my parents won’t qualify

Does one have to put every scholarship they get? Even if it is below $500?

@ccnube - on here sure lol do you have to tell the UC’s Uhm maybe, it depends how the scholarship finder wants it disbursed some disburse through the school and some will just mail you a check.

Dude that’s a good financial aid package! Over 5k in a UC Grant and a 5k Pell Grant you’re good man

@Matt4200, I meant on the FAFSA or to the school regarding outside scholarships, and thanks for your comments on here. I am quite lost with all of this.

Pell Grants are only given based on your financial need? I believe due to my FAFSA report, that’s why I didn’t get a cent from the Pell grant.

I believe @Matt4200 stated a couple pages back that new applicants for Cal grants will be notified of what grants they’ll get in late May. So here’s to hoping!

Really good to see that a lot of you guys are receiving a good amount of aid. seeing my 22K in loans and only 8k in grants makes me shudder.

@ccnube , How do you check for the unofficial package for UCR?

Just got my unofficial for UCSB:
Cal Grant: $12192
Federal Pell Grant: $4980
UCSB GRANT: $2910
Work-Study: $2300
Subsidized Loan: $5500
Unsubsidized : $2000

EFC: $775

Any idea if official packages generally higher or lower than unofficial packages?

@mental2, it will be on the right side of the myucr opening screen. It is a square, pastel colored, box picture. I can’t believe I saw it. It should have been a link, not a pic that looks like an ad.

you have to logon - and it is on that page - @mental2

How do you know if you’re awarded Blue & Gold? Is it under the school’s grant? I’ve been accepted to UCSD and I don’t see Blue & Gold anywhere on the FA estimate page.
