I'm wondering for a friend; I told her to apply before the original deadline but she applied two weeks after Nov.1. Just wondering what type of stats she needs to get in. She has a pretty high SAT score, 4.0 unweighted GPA...etc etc

Ive kind of felt that if you were a celebrity they would let you in no matter when you applied so that UF can bolster their alumni list. But I really don’t know… I honestly feel like they are just trying not to be mean/strict by saying they will still take applications (read: application fees $$bling-bling$$) after November 1st but if I were dean of admissions or whatever I would reject all of those people. Realistically you would probably have to be a well accomplished high school student with some unique experiences under your belt, possibly having been published somewhere or awarded/noted by some prestigious organizations or something. And you would probably have to personally write to the admissions people a good excuse for missing the deadline. Come on, if you were serious about going to UF you would have known about November 1st well in advance.

Same question. I’m being pushed by my dad to apply in case UNC doesn’t come through for me…I don’t feel like I have much of a chance at this point, but I am interested in UF if I don’t get into UNC. I’m not a fan of the fact there’s no RD, for this reason :/

I applied after the Nov 1st deadline, I think it was even after they released admission decisions for those who applied at Nov 1st. I was pretty sure I wanted to go out of state so I ignored many of the in state colleges and wasn’t even planning on applying to UF. Until I decided to apply just to be sure I have somewhere to go if out of state didn’t work out. Soon I realized that out of state would cost way too much money and I could get the same, if not better education at UF. I’m glad I applied because UF is such an awesome place to learn and enjoy life. If I were you, I would apply, what have you go to lose? You never know they might accept you for a different semester than you applied for (for example, accept you for spring 2011 if you apply for fall 2010), and you can easily submit a request to switch semester back to fall by sending admissions an email.

Btw my stats were 4.0 UF GPA, average SAT and ACT, pretty good extracurriculars (in my opinion)

The Master, what year did you apply after November 1st and get accepted? And what term did you apply for? I am thinking about applying there still haha, but not if I have absolutely no chance. Gpa: 3.8 weighted/3.6 unweighted (but is going to go above a 4.0 when mid-year grades come out) SAT: 1220/1850 (taking again on Saturday) and ACT: 28 with and without writing. Thanks for your help! :)

Laurie applying this late would be pointless. UNC In-State is easier than UF out of state, especially after you missed the UF deadline. I wouldn’t worry about it.

At the admissions meeting they basically said applying after the deadline makes admission almost impossible.

Think about it. You are applying for a spot based on limited availability after they just rejected 17,000 people.

I applied last year for Fall 2009. I assume your unweighted GPA is calculated the same way your UF GPA is calculated, if so then that makes it a little harder to get in at this point, you have a good SAT and ACT score so that might help you but I think that extracurriculars will be the most important thing for you, so if you have a strong extracurricular background then go ahead and apply.

Ryan, its not really pointless to apply this late because there is still the chance of getting accepted. Whats the worst that can happen? they reject you? well at least you know you tried. I think that if you have good enough stats you probably can get in (I did). But I do think that it is a lot harder (and maybe even impossible) for out-of-state students to get in after applying this late.

Okay, great! Thanks! My gpa is probably going to go up because I have 5 AP’s this year and I’m getting A’s in most of them.
Would it help if I applied for the summer B term too? You’re right, the worse that could happen is I get rejected. But I’ll never get in if I don’t even try.

UF doesn’t consider Senior year grades for GPA, they don’t even see them until after you are admitted.

They wouldn’t even consider them if I applied after those grades were finalized? And it was my new gpa? Because the transcript I would send would have those grades on it.

UF recculates your GPA in their own way, and they only consider grades from your freshman through junior year (even if first semester of senior year grades are on the transcript). The only time they consider your senior grades is after you’re accepted to UF and graduated from high school, to make sure you didn’t slack off your senior year. As for applying for Summer B rather than Fall, I don’t know if you have a better chance or not

Okay, thank you for your help!
