I’m a sophomore at Rutgers- Newark and I am in the business program which is combined with New Brunswick (Main campus). I wanted to go to New Brunswick but didn’t end up getting in so I’m at Newark. I don’t dislike the school, but I think I’m not getting enough out of it for the amount of money I’m spending. The tuition costs only about 400 less than the main campus, and we have 10,000 kids on a 4 block radius VS the main campus with 60,000 kids on hundreds of acres.
I have the opportunity to transfer to New Brunswick, but not to the business school, I can only transfer to the Science and Arts School. I may have to retake about 3 classes. At the Newark Campus Business School, I have the option of these following majors and concentrations (no minor allowed)
Majors: Accounting, Finance, Leadership and Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Supply Chain Management
Concentrations: Business of Fashion, Entrepreneurship, Global Business, Leadership Skills, Management Science and Information Systems, Real Estate, Sales, Supply Chain Management
If I were to transfer I would still want to stay related to business but my options are very limited -
For majors, I could do: Economics, Public Admin, Human Resource Management, Labor and Relations Management. With a minor in Business Admin.
I’m leaning towards leaving the Business School for a major In Economics or Public Admin with a minor in Business Admin, I know I’m going to lose some opportunities by leaving the business school, I’m just weighing all my options.
Also, after interning in an office setting last summer, I really want a career where I’m not in the office all day every day. A lot of people have suggested majoring in supply chain or MIS to give me the flexibility to not always work in an office, but would a combination of Economics or Public admin with business admin major be better for this?
What would you major in if you think I should stay in the business school?
Is it worth it to transfer and what major should I combine with a minor in Business Admin?
