I've seen a hella lot of the same school names on these forums. It seems like if someone asks to be paired with a school, all the ever get is a top ten. No one is going outside of the box here. I'm interested in hearing who applied where, and if anyone picked more of the just as prestigious but less talked of prep schools. My list in order of preference reads:
1. Concord Academy, MA
2. Loomis Chaffee, CT
3. Asheville School, NC
4. Brooks School, MA
5. McCallie School, TN
6. New Hampton School, NH

I also looked at several others but chose not to apply, including Choate, Mercersburg, St. Paul's, Williston Northhampton, Governor's, Holderness, Tabor, etc.

Didn’t visit any others… just these schools in order of preference… although i didn’t see NMH yet CHoate is on the bottom of my list, because I just thought it wasn’t very welcoming

Loomis Chaffee
Episcopal High School
Peddie School
Kent School
St. Andrews School
Hiil School
Hotchkiss School
(in no particular order)
So nervous for march 10th I visited only Kent so far and I thought it looked like a good school and their campus looks pretty nice too.

Dana Hall

Choate
No particular order, I also looked at Hotchkiss, middlesex, loomis, concord, and taft, decided to not apply to those.

Loomis seems to be on a lot of people’s lists. I guess just because it’s a great school.
and @oyxgen1, you’ll enjoy your visits to all of those schools. They’re all pretty awesome.

realityonholiday - I like every school in your list except for New Hampton school. I don’t understand why you chose it. What’s so special about that school anw?

@hotformat, it’s not really special. it’s a pretty C or D-level school. I’ve always liked it because it’s very chill and I can snowboard all winter there. It’s acceptance rate is very high, so it’s basically my ultra safety in New England.

Peddie School

Concord Academy

Episcopal High School
I also almost applied to Walnut Hill for their writing program, but decided that it wasn’t for me.

My daughter applied to:
Westtown ¶
George School ¶

She liked them both- I don’t think she has a preference at this point. I attended a Quaker boarding school myself, and I am hoping that my D will be able to go as well.

@realityonholiday: I know! Really want to be accepted there - I literally started drooling reading their course catalog. And then I visited and it just got better and better. My mom doesn’t like it though because she thinks the people are “whiny”. hmpf. disagree!

I looked at a ton of schools. These definitely aren’t all of them. I decided not to apply to: Concord, St. Mark’s, Kent, Choate, Hotchkiss, NMH, Commonwealth, Mercesburg, Blair, Brooks, Rivers, Taft, St. George’s, Governor’s, Milton, and Tabor. That’s probably not all of them though.

@beatlesforever, my dad really doesn’t like Concord because it’s so liberal. I myself am extremely conservative but I still love Concord. They put a lot of accentuation on being an individual and having a passion for your education and I really both of those aspects. I’m not sure where your mom got the “whiny” part however! aha the people seem very kind and down to earth.

@ifax108, I respect your list, but those are the schools I started this post about. The same top ten again. And no safety school?

I would be grateful if ANY of these schools offered me a spot in their school with a decent amount of FA. They are all excellent schools and I would be happy to attend any of them. I also really wanted to check out Blair, Lawrenceville, Mercersburg, and Peddie but distance was a factor.

My parents didn’t want me to stay too far away from home, which ruled out St. Paul’s and Andover, schools that I was interested in. Especially since my best friend goes to St. Paul’s, but its a 5 and a half hour drive so…

@realityonholiday,
First, sorry about that! I didn’t mean to post about schools not meant to be talked about on this thread. Second, my local public high school is my safety. I had trouble liking schools that were “safeties.” And my public school offers the same stuff as most of the “safeties” I looked into did. Again, sorry about posting about schools not meant to be talked about.

sorry about being a little off topic but can anyone tell me which schools are close to the best ski areas? i am not familar with the east coast.thx
