This week at my school is midterms and so far is so good. I end up going online checking my grades out and I see that my semester grade in my math class is at a 70. I'm so scared that I ended up with a bad exam grade that I will end up with a D+ semester average since the math dept uses a 40-40-20 formula (40% 1st semster, 40% 2nd, 20% exam). I ended up with a B+ in my statistics class even though I failed my midterm for that class. I also have solid grades so far with my Dual Enrollment classes A's, B's, and 1 C 79 (ENC 1101/1102). If I do well on these exams I can end up with a 3.4 semester but if I did horrible my GPA will drop to a 3.2 or worse a 3.1 =(

I'm scared UCF will end up deferring me due to an onset of senioritis "1st Qtr" (2.8 GPA). 2nd Qtr 3.7 GPA. I'm meeting with my college advisor Jan 7th but is there anything I can plan or send to UCF such as a letter describing my grades. I really have my heart set on UCF and possibly FSU!!

P.S. I've been deferred from both schools!! College Advisor is sending in 7th Semester Grades =( to ALL of my colleges (FSU, UCF, USF, UNF, Alabama). I'm so stressed right now I feel I'm not going to get into college =(

I just realized that my question was stupid. Did you send in teacher recommendations? Maybe improve your essay, write another and send in a resume? Usually when you're deferred, they want more information on you and you want to make sure that their decision on your attending there is the right one. Impress them.

I was deferred mainly due to test scores very bad test taker that what it says on myUCF so my counselor and I sent in the rec's, completed two great essays, and have a "decent" transcript. We were going to send in Qtr 1 grades but I had a 68 in Algebra 2 (very mean teacher "Sr. Therese--old school nun"). I'm just scared a D in Algebra 2 will hinder my chances of getting in. Would admissions overlook this? I finished with a B in my Probability & Statistics class (I've always had problems with Mathematics since I was younger). Should I ask my college advisor about sending in Qtr 2 grades along with Semester 7 grades? Qtr 2 finished in algebra 2 with a 71; Statistics-- 92, and a 3.7 GPA with 3 Dual Enrollment classes along with 4 College Prep classes.

I'm not really sure if the admissions would overlook a D... but maybe if they look at the overall average of Q1 grades, it's not so bad? I mean I don't know what you got in your other classes. Dual-enrollment and college prep (AP?) are really good things to have. I don't know what you got on the SAT but if you want to, try to take the test again, see how you do. Personally, I had a 3.2 GPA, 610-Math, 570-CR and 550 writing... so your 3.7 is much better than mine. However, on College Board, I see that it says test scores are valued at "very important" in regards to an admissions decision as is GPA... Not sure... If I were you, I'd try to take the SAT again. Good Luck! :)

Thinking about it... Send the Q1 and Q2 grades because the two classes that you are worried about both improved with the new Quarter. Algebra 2 went from 68 -> 71 and Stats and Probability went from B -> 92... this will show the admissions office that you aren't slacking off and you are actually trying. Just a thought.

Thanks UCF2013 I'll definitely will relax and just retake the ACT/SAT. I ended up taking the ACT last weekend so hopefully I ended up with a 20-22 lol. I'll just have to hope that a D in a class isn't so serious for them. My last ACT/SAT was an 18/850 =(

These are my classes:
Course-------Q1--------- Q2---- Semester
Statistics---74.81-------93.85----79.97 (B)
Film (Dual Enrollment)-----92-----99-----96 (A)
Zoology----81.6----------81.6-----81.6 Just took final today (Hopefully stays B)
Religion---75-------------91-------80 (B)
Am Govt DE---84---93---89 Exam on thursday hoping to get an (A semester) in the class
Algebra II ---68----------71-------70* Took EXAM on monday
English IV DE---79-------72-------76* Exam tomorrow (Hopefully will Ace and get a B+)

Well it seems to me that you have taken the initiative to improve your grades and that shows. You have gone up/stayed consistent in all of your classes except English and that might resonate with an admission officer, or at least it should. Pretty good grades, though, overall.
