What should high-schoolers do that summer before college?

Started off my summer with a cruise that went around the western Caribbean. Then I swam in the mornings and worked in the evenings. I still had time to hang out with my friends a lot, but I still wish I had gone and done something a little more wild. I did make a lot of money though which helped pay for books, dorm supplies, etc. and the swimming kept in really good shape for my freshman season. A trip back to my hometown in Ohio was also fun.

I'm also planning on spending about 3 weeks to travel Western Europe with my close friends. It will be such a nice treat before we start our serious academic careers. After that, I'll probably do some more traveling with my family, and then the summer will be up!

Good ideas

I'm doing what I've been doing for the last 7 years- I'm going to summer camp :) Of course, last year and this year I was a counselor, but it is still a complete blast and the perfect place to help me "reinvent" myself into someone a little more outgoing and wacky.

I had seriously thought of running off to Europe for a month by myself and seeing what happens, but I suppose I'll need money for college. I wish I was crazy enough to do something like that.

For sure I want to do some things that I didn't get a chance to do in highschool (maybe a little on the wild side) and reevaluate myself.

I'm going to just chill, probably get a job and have fun. This will be the end of my "the golden years".

Work during some evenings / on weekends Read UNREQUIRED novels (gasp!). Daytrips with my friends. Going to Washington DC once a week for lunch. Sleeping in. Lots of grad parties at the start of summer. Not to mention SENIOR WEEK (which is actually a little longer than a week).

I'm sure there will be plenty of fun mixed in with a little work. :)

I'm going to be working and doing something to stay in shape, I'm thinking about training for a triathalon.

We're all spending as much time as possible with each other before we had off to our respective colleges. Some of us will be working...I personally am trying to get a job, but no one seems to want me. :(

I Definitely Agree With This....i Must Admit I Still Type With Only Three Fingers, Although I Am Quite Speedy, I Cant Do It W.o Looking :(

And To Think I Got 3 Acceptance Letters...

XD I type roughly 90 WPM. I can type and be watching TV at the same time. :)

Right now, I'm torn between two options: either researching at a top hospital in my city/area or taking intro chem and physics classes at a local univ. to prepare for pre-med classes in the fall. I really don't want to be behind in those subjects once college starts, but I'm having difficulty choosing either option as the research would pay me $3000. What would you guys do?

I think research would be the better option. You get money and good experience for med school.

Research at the top hospital. This is the kind of stuff that sets you apart from the other several thousand students who want to go to Med school.

Also, you'll get hands on experience as to whether or not you actually want to work in the field.

You should be able to make some good connections, as well.

Do the research, it'll be an easy connection for the summer of freshman year when many students have a very difficult time finding a job pertaining to their studies.

Also, what's with all the people going to Europe? Am I the only person that thinks (and found) a roadtrip driving across the country to be a lot more exciting? Nothing beats seeing all the National Parks out west after living in the same town for the past 18 years.

Vacation, work, party.

start drinking a lot to build your tolerance to alcohol, hook up with those girls you always wanted to bc a lot of them you'll probably fall out of touch with after college starts

I'll be doing an internship at the college I'm going to...but that's just me lol.
Actually, yeah, have fun and relax, since you'll have nothing else to do or worry about.

Don't do anything productive. I swear, this is the LAST TIME you will have this chance. Have fun. Enjoy friendships that are going to change forever. Don't worry about your future. Just relax.

If money is an issue... that obvi doesn't apply.

^ Haha yeah money IS an issue. I will be working my butt off to offset college loans.

Work at my fabulous job, hang out with friends, and maybe take some math over the summer. Oh, and figure out what the hack I'm going to be doing in the next four years.

I would do the Europe thing but ehhhh, I already did that for all of last year. Europe gets boring after 10 months.
