Note: I posted this in the HSL forum but realized it'll probably get more responses in here. If a mod wants to delete one or merge or something, I understand but I'm looking for two different perspectives. Thanks!

Well, most jobs around here require you to be 16 but several mediocre jobs (which job isn't mediocre for a HS student? -__-) like Mickie D's and DQ will hire 15 year olds. I could work as a bagger at a grocery store now. I'm 15 and 8 months old. Should I go work at one of those places or wait until I'm 16 and work at a job I would actually enjoy like at Barnes and Noble or something like that.

I could get a job at Target now which I'm also considering. Circuit City is a possibility when I'm 16 and Staples may be a possibility as well. I need to get a job but I'm unsure of if I should just wait until I turn 16. I probably should, what do you think?

I thought of that, but how would that reference sound when I worked there for 4 months and then as soon as I came of age, left? That could potentially ruin the job I really want.

I was considering getting a job now, hanging around for about a year or so (I'm only a sophomore) and then switching. Target wouldn't be too bad so that's certainly a possibility. How does that sound?

Well i would suggest working there for 6 months. I do not think it would be bad, in fact you could just tell them you wanted to work there first but werent old enough, I think you will have no problems

Grocerty store first. Then try Circuit City, Target, or Staples.

Do NOT work at McDonalds. You will be working with some SHADY people if you do--but it depends on where it's located as in the inner city or the suburbs.

Note: You must be at least 16 years old to work at Barnes & Noble. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you may also need working papers. Please check with your state department of labor for details about the minimum age requirement to obtain working papers. Thank you.
