Buy the textbooks for the courses you are taking, look on Google to find course websites, go on webcast.berkeley.edu to find online lectures, and learn the material ahead of time. Show up in the Fall knowing everything already and feeling extremely confident and de-stressed.

... maybe travel? Like a road trip? Chill with friends? I hope you were not serious in asking us how you should go about having fun.

In any case, try to land an internship position. That might be a bit difficult, because you probably won't have much to show a company since you haven't even attended college yet. Nevertheless, it's a good place to start. Volunteering is also a good choice.

The reason I suggest this is because the first semester as a freshman is one of the most fun times in your life. If you aren't stressed about classes much, it's going to open up a lot of fun opportunities.

If you're stuck in a boring town, why not do your studying now. Then when you are in fun Berkeley, you'll have more time for fun.

I live in a boring town too... all we have are the movies and the local Tully's lol, both of which get old quickly. However, I still have plenty of fun - chill with friends, have an occasional bbq or football game in the park, play marco polo with some girls in the pool :). How can you not have fun? Have you never had fun in your life?

Sometimes life's not all about studying, getting ahead in school, and making the big bucks. This is honestly your last year to "lay back" before you enter the real world. If I were you, I'd first do something for my parents - take them out on a road trip or maybe just invite them and their friends to a dinner party. Then, I'd do something with my best friends. I don't know about you, but many of my friends are going to school on the other side of the country. I'd try to get everyone together for a final, special event - a final farewell for 4+ years.
