<p>Fall quarter, I got a 1.9 GPA with C- in Bio 93 and Chem 1A. I know its because I slacked off too much (skipping class and discussions)... Should I still move onto 94 and 1B or should I retake them Winter quarter? Also, I heard that you can also retake it in the summer. Is that true, and is it a good idea?</p>

<p>if your struggles are based on slacking, then you should change your ways. if you’re not grasping the material, get help or perhaps change your major.</p>

<p>Well if you’re really gonna change your study habits and if you did okay in terms of understanding the material from chem and bio, then retake those classes in the summer. Otherwise, just retake it this quarter and catch up over the summer.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that you can retake up to 3 classes and the grade will replace your previous grade (so your GPA will be like you never took it the first time), but any more classes than that, they’ll begin to average both before-and-after grades. Both the previous grade + retaken grade will stay on your transcript, regardless.</p>
<p>If you want to retake bio 93, you’ll have to wait until the summer or next fall since they’re not offering it until then. It’s a good idea to do so if you dont think you’ll get anything lower than a C- during the rest of your stay at UCI (otherwise, save your 3 repeats for later). I would not say that future bio courses build upon bio 93 as a foundation, so you would be okay to take 94 and onward without retaking 93.</p>
<p>Chem… just take Chem 1B and then retake Chem 1A in teh summer or something. However, you might find Chem1B hard if you didn’t really understand Chem 1A.</p>

<p>sounds like these classes are for your major…? correct me if im wrong but i think usually your major classes have to be taken at uci.</p>
<p>You can’t take 1A and 1B at the same time. 1A is a prerequisite for 1B so you either retake it now or later.</p>
<p>I think a C- is a pass so he could still go onto 1B. If he had a D, then he robably couldnt take 1A and 1B concurrently. Not sure if webreg would boot him if he added both though.</p>
<p>Yeah, C- is a pass. I think I’m just going to move onto 1B for right now. I have a good shot of getting a B or higher this quarter because I have a good teacher and LARC tutoring. I’ll retake Chem 1A in the summer…</p>
