What to see?

Doing admitted honors visit friday…any suggestions on what else i should see? Is there anything interesting in the actual city of columbus that is a must see? Thx

Check out the dorms on all three sides of campus.

I really like Columbus, but you don't need to visit it if you're just here for a day.

If you have time, definitely try to check out the Short North neighborhood and Arena District. The area is full of restaurants, bars and shopping that will provide a lot of your entertainment options away from the immediate University District.

Do you think its possible for someone like me, who generally dislikes big-city atmosphere and cold weather, to have a good time at osu? Also, is the party scene good?

Hm, someone worried about the party scene at OSU...
I don't believe I've actually heard that concern before. :-) OSU is known (some say notorious) for parties, but from what I hear from my many friends there that means most nights you've got the full range of kids just hanging out watching movies or some such parties all the way to hardcore drink-til-you're stupid parties. Whichever end of the spectrum you seek, I've heard you can usually find it.

On my tour I asked to check out Scott Lab (I'm gonna be MechE, though I know not at which school yet). It turned out to be a GREAT experience that really impressed me. One of the grad students happened to be working on something, and they showed me all the pretty equipment (stuff that places like Olin or MIT have, since Scott Lab is so darned new and OSU is such a Research-intensive place). So, basically, if there's a building/area that's major specific, it'd probably be good to ask to see that.

Cool! thanks a lot. I guess what i should have asked, since i know a few kids who go to OSU and who are definately partiers, is it just like frats/sororities where most stuff happens? I will be living, assuming i choose to go to osu, in honors housing, are these kids all nerdy or do they still have fun too? I'm not saying you can't have fun without smashing beer bottles over your head, but i definately cannot survive a college experience surrounded by people afraid to do anything but study......
