I'm sure this has been posted before, but I'm curious as to what types of food I should be eating the night before and the morning of the SAT. Carbs? Starch? Sugars? Any type of food that makes me more alert?

Thanks for the help

food, what else? I mean c'mon! Common sense! Eat a full dinner the night before, eat a healthy, balanced breakfast the day of, and take a small sugar boost that you can consume when you're going into the last leg of the test. I mean, cmon? What kind of question is that?

just don't eat any more or any less than you usually do. eat the kinds of foods you usually do as well. you don't want to go trying something new the night before the SATs...can you imagine the worst case scenario? you don't want to be sick on saturday morning.
but that's just common sense...i don't know of any special food that will actually work wonders.

oh come on...such a [stupid and silly and weird] question haha

um.... chocolate = sugar boost = much energy. lol! works for me :D

bring a couple of peppermints with you to the testing center...and drink a glass of water...

I usually bring some chocolates to the test center and eat during break. (U are not allowed to eat in the test room, but there's no rule binding u from eating outside.)

Different things work for different people. Learn to be in tune with your digestive system, and then eat the things that make you feel good.

Don't drink soda or ingest too much sodium. I heard that too much salt inhibits your ability to think. Also, avoid cold-cut meats.

I don't know. These are only stuff that I've read.

Red Bull.

Right before the test.
Do it. and Pwn it.

Go to your local greasy spoon and buy a 72 ounce steak. If you cannot finish it, you will utterly fail on your SATs.

A more benign alternative, have some chardonnay mixed in with ex-lax prior to the test. Nothing like explosive diarrhea to clear the mind.
Van Wilder anyone?

Red Bull.

I couldn't agree more.

... and then you can crash right after the 7th section. How about pancakes and a glass of milk? Or cereal or whatever else you eat on a regular basis...

Just make sure it's more than an energy bar (I didn't). Bring snacks.

Actually, for dinner I get Pizza + Soda. For Breakfast I have Entemin's Raspberry Danish (the whole box, hell yeah) and for during the test two twix's. Works good for me.

Night before test: Full Dinner, but don't go to sleep right after eating. If you can, take a hot bath before going to bed. Sleep EARLY EARLY. Cramming then isn't really going to do much.

Morning of test: 2 bowls of Total cereal. lol I also drink green tea, because contrary to some and alike to others, this is said to be the ultimate sleep killer. And...it is. For me. 1 strong glass = hype for the next 12 hours. >_>

Break during test: can of red bull and a chocolate bar.

My food order -.-....

Go on an empty stomache and don't drink any water. That way, you can focus on the test while everyone around you are probably eager to go to the restroom.

nothing...! like dualityim said... but different reasoning... u'll want to work harder and faster if there's a goal that you get to eat afterwards... :)

I'll have to disagree with the two previous posters. When I haven't eaten I get lightheaded, moody, and unfocused -- not the best conditions for test-taking.

If you can't get your hands on the US army coffee chew things that SNAP you awake (I read about it in some magazine, and I doubt anyone can get their hands on it ;)), bring lots of sugar for test day. Like mints...that you can smuggle into your mouth in breaks.
