What types of pants?

7$? thats insane! Portland, ME has really nice outlets, thats the only outlet place i've ever been. I think i'm going to be stopping by in august or early early early september...so hopefully i'll see some good finds there.

Haha, I know! But you have to find the right outlets and you pretty much have to be rather skinny. The outlet I bought the pants at only had them in sizes 2 and 4. Meh.

Have fun shopping!

I went to outlets in Pennsylvania The Crossings Outlets and they were very bad just regular outlets. The outlets in Hilton Head are fantastic. Abercrombie and Hollister - I got stuff there for <$15 and a coat for $30 that retailed for $150.

I know this is a little bit off topic, but we are talking about clothes so...
What types of shoes do people wear?
I used to wear ballet flats...uggs...converse...and sometimes l.l. bean slippers =] (on cold days)
is it sort of the same at boarding school, or do people's styles differ?

I have a question, I know fitting in is a valid concern. But does it really matter if you don't look like the stereotypical boarding students (preppy, professional looking to the extreme, ect.) How much does not fitting in, make you not fit in?

In response to sailor_chica- ballet falts and uggs are the norm. Almost every girl wears them. With converses you'll stand out, but people wear them. l.l bean sleepers were really in this past year at my school, I wore mine all the time.

Sportincourty- Although a wide range of people go to boarding schools everyone is there usually has enough self respect to look nice. Most of the time the things that make you look presentable, that are appropriate for classes, and that don't go out of style in .12345 of a second are specific styles and brands. These are the things that kids wear at boarding schools. So it really isn't about fitting in more as feeling as though you fit.

Cords, kahkis, chinos are all good for pants
Buy some staple pieces from the popular brands if you want to dress the norm (polo, vineyard vines, jcrew etc.) then buy clothes that you feel comfortable in that look nice.

I know that most boarding schools have a dress code that doesn't allow jeans. However, I've seen some students wearing denim in different colors (black, white, etc.) to class. Would those be considered jeans?

i was wondering the same thing erkybk because it seems like i saw alot of white jeans at revisit day...

I just bought A LOT of dresses. I hardly have any jeans, so...=)

At my daughter's school, the no jeans rule extends to all pants (or skirts) with rivets no matter what color.

at my school, Groton, Any denim is allowed besides Blue Jeans. If it is a very dark blue wash it is usually acceptable too

at SPS any denim is acceptable as long as its not blue.
and for shoes, flats, uggs, rainbows are all good

lilorox,
if you are who i think you are,
you wouldnt be wearing dresses...?

wow, i'm a jeans girl, i don't even own different types of pants! hahaha. finally got uggs tho, never got what the big fuss about them util now: THEY ARE SO FREAKING COMFORTABLE!!! ohmygosh, insane!!! haha

heey everyone
another question for this- i know it may differ from school to school, but what do you wear on the day you arrive?!?! jeans? shorts? a skirt?
ahhh im nervous :)

Good question, cause there's really no point in looking all fancy-schmancy and setting a high standard for yourself when everyone in a month or two will see you under slept, with no care in the world about how you look. But nor do you want to look like trash which would thus make the friend concept everyone is striving to grasp be ill-able. So yeah, what do you wear?

Perhaps for boys it is easier: on the first day he will be moving all his stuff into the room from the car and go up and down the stairs a bunch of times. He is wearing a t shirt and shorts - anything else and he would look like a dope. I think most people will have had a car ride beforehand or some kind of travel - no one is expecting a fashion show for carrying boxes up and down dorm hallways in humid weather. I would think that most kids change before dinner that first night, perhaps (especially girls) will meet their roommates by then and can discuss clothing options for the evening activities and dining hall.

I'm just going to wear a pear of shorts, and a relatively nice shirt with flip flops. Nothing too fancy, but I don't want to look like a mess. Luckily I won't be one who had a long car ride...only from Bradley airport for me. I don't think anyone in my family is up for driving from the west coast.

Girls should not wear skirts as you are moving in, orentation, etc. Wear shorts and a nice top to be safe. If its cold out wear a light jacket or something. I wouldn't show up in jeans/ jean shorts

Depends on the school. Half the girls at Andover were wearing jeans last orientation.
