Wow. At Groton a new student wouldn't think to wear jeans on the first day. But then again move in day is always extremely hot and we have pictures taken that day, people want to look their best, etc.

I just realized that my post above makes Groton sound a bit snobby.
Not the case. I just think that most kids want to follow the dress code their first day and since Groton doesn't allow jeans new students don't wear them
Please don't get the wrong impressiong

sailor and prepgoer-- which llbean slippers do y'all have? i've been looking for some warm shoes to wear to school in the winter... do you just buy them online?

yess! i have these exact ones:
Wicked Good Moccasins: All Slippers at L.L.Bean
and they are so amazing seriously...the MOST comfortable things ever.

nevermind-i have them in the brown color

That is the same pair I have too!!

hey everyone! so i'm from oregon, (i'm sure some of you have read twilight, well, Forks is fairly close to me and that's about what weather here is like, haha) so i really don't know what to expect. how hot is it in fall? when does the cold weather set in? how often does it snow?

Have You Been To Forks Before?

Of course. Jeans are fine by the Andover dress code, though.

you're from near forks!!!!
that pretty much associates you with the book in my eyes...
ohhhhmygosshhhh
they are the best books everrrr
im reading breaking dawn at this very second and i lovelovelovelovelovelove it
amazingamazingamazing.

(it hasnt rained here in MONTHES! all the grass is all brown and fires get started next to the highway because the ground is so dry)

well, oregon is really close to washington. so, it's not like withing walking distance, haha. but our weather is really similar. very rainy. (like seven months straight this year, AHHHHHH!) I lovelovelovelove that series! except for breaking dawn. that was awful.

i love the series too, even though i've only read the first book so far =/
but to answer your question:
september is between 70 and 80 degrees [80 being high, more on the 70 side] during the day and colder at night....
by november it starts to get really cold, and usually i start wearing a winterish jacket by then...
and then usually the weather starts warming up in march, sometimes late february...but it isn't really warm until april
thats sorta a bad description, but if you have anymore questions just ask i'm definitely not the best explainer.

oh crud muffins. i just realized i have no shorts that are not for soccer. just jeans and stuff. does that matter?

and: i love stephanie myers! she = amazing. edward is so cool, jacob needs to back off!

do you have any skirts or anything to wear instead of long pants?
if not you might want to get 1 or 2 pairs, because in the spring you definitely want to have shorts or a skirt to put on....skirts are fine instead of shorts though

Oh definitely get some shorts... If you can sweat it through indian summer days this fall, then you can wait until spring (especially if your budget's tight already) but if not, go for some shorts or skirts.
Khaki skirts and shorts that are mid-thigh length are modest and really cute.

thanks so much everyone, that helps a lot! how cold is "cold" exactly? :D

haha well it definitely can get to 20 degrees and sometimes even lower in the winter...i think the lowest low for where i live last year was like 18 degrees, but other than that it was around 25-35 on typical "cold days"
its pretty cold...but the good thing about boarding school is that your not outside much! just walking to classses...but its not like you have to go from home to school

Phew! Since I like in Illinois near the windy city and everyone was saying that New Hampshire winters were colder than we have ever felt before, I was fearing below 0 degrees. That makes me feel a lot better, I will survive! does dance

i feel exactly the same way sportincourty!
