hmm i found out at the end of last week. had to check online but they sent me an email a couple days ago. did your S/D apply?

d is 2004 Graphic Design class, 13 whole first time freshmen admits that year. Go to Open House, you will meet your four year family! still hoping for son to be admitted, looking bleek in ME. April 1 is coming up soon!

awesome. how is D liking it there - i'm still not sure whether or not i'll go. and best of luck to son! kisses.

Absolute best fit for her. Teachers are great, friendly and available. She is known by name by most department instructors. Two fellow major friends will all be room mates next year. I don't know where she would be happier, except maybe working at Pixar...

just curious where else you are thinking about for GD? You are one of a select few at Poly.

well i actually only applied for GD at a few schools. cal poly was one, ucla was the other but i was REJECTED. haha oh well, i'm okay with it i guess. i applied for art at cornell and rice, either as dual majors or hoping to transfer into architecture. syracuse, i applied for the business management/public communications (GD) dual major. and for the rest of my schools i applied under communications or int'l relations or business, etc. i know it seems totally scattered and unfocused, but it really depended on the school's programs..i'm interested in all of those!

accepted to architecture!

woot... okay so 4.4 gpa, 800 CR/710 M on SAT I...

so many ppl from my school are going to cal poly it's insane!!!

4) pick it if you're interested in math or math related majors

does any one know how the EE compares to UCLA and UCSD's programs?

1) 2003

2) GPA: 4.1, SAT: 1440 (730M, 710V)

3) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

4) Rape the tests.

My gpa was 3.46 at the time I sent my application in.
Sat scors were 1140 (at least very close to that, I dont really remember).
Applied for Mechanical engineering and got in.
I think it was becasue I showed an interest in engineering through all my classes, Drafting 1+2, AutoCAD 1, and Architecture 1. I also participated in a few engineering competitions.

1] 2006

2] GPA: 3.25-3.3 somewhere around there
SAT: 1930
ACT: 30

3] A lot of experience in my major field - Computer Science. Plus im 1337. nuff said.

4] If your GPA sucks it doesnt really matter as long as youre 1337 like me.

pssh Cocky are we. If you were truely 1337 you wouldn't be calling yourself "1337".

Hey..I have around a 3.35 - 3.4, 1650 SAT, and I really want to go to Cal Poly, what are my chances at making the ED Computer Science program? I have 2 years work experience as a programmer, and know several programming languages.

1] Graduated 2004 from HS (am currently majoring in Materials Engineering w/ minor in History)

2] GPA: 3.71
ACT: 30
note (took a lot of AP tests and scored well)
sidenote: (if you apply to engineering for godsake please have taken AP Calc 1 or AP Calc AB or BC, because as engineer, I havent seen a single person who started in Math 141 make it through (ie they bog down in the 141-143 series)

3] What helped me get in, was the fact that I am from Kansas. Being out of state, was a huge boost, I am sure of it (it cost me a lot paying out of state tuition).

4] If you want to succeed in engineering, pay attention EVERYDAY in math class no matter how mundane the topic, because you will need all of it at some point and you will need to have a mastery of the subject.

This other note will probably get me crap BUT: if you are female or a minority (the school of engineering is desperatly short of both) I would say your odds are very very good at getting in.

With an unweighted 3.2 from a rigorous college prep Highschool, with 4 Aps (three senior year) (mostly in the humanities), 2 honors, 750 critical reading, 690 math, 710 writing, some ecs, and interest in majoring in Business, can I reasonably treat Cal Poly as a safety school? I suspect not, but I'd appreciate your feedback in any case.

I'd treat it as a safety with those scores - but only because Cal Poly doesn't concern itself with GPA as much. However, UCs aren't similar in the respect so you are going to have to look out of state and to privates.
