1] 2009

2] CSU GPA: I calculated 3.18, but SF State had 2.88 on my application-- don't know what happened there (if it was a mistake- that's what I think) or if Cal Poly SLO calculated it differently.

SAT 2: 790 Lit, 730 US Hist.
ACT: 30

3] I took a bunch of AP classes (though I didn't do particularly well). I was able to say I worked 20 hours a week, held a leadership position, and that my job was related to the major I was applying for (Animal Sciences).

4] Have a high GPA and test scores, really...

for my son:

2009 Applied ED, deferred and accepted RD

it's number based so yeah doesnt matter what classes you take. just meet test scores and gpa thats it.

hey congrats on getting accepted to the aerospace engineering program. Heard thats one of the toughest engineering programs to get into at cal poly a long with electric and mechanical. Congrats.

after looking at everyone's gpa before they got accepted into aerospace I realize now that I probably won't get in ._.

whats your gpa ice mat if you dont mind me asking?

really low...
3.24 weighted

what do you plan on majoring

aerospace... ;_;

I'm civil, haven't heard anything yet, my friend got accepted last week, but were transfer students. I imagine your not since you have a weighted GPA, but anything is possible, I feel im not going to get in because my friend got accepted already and i haven't and my friends are telling me to calm down haha. But anythings possible. Aerospace is really good though.

yeah I'm first year
hopefully I'll get in!

Year: 2009
ED?: no
GPA: 3.5 -ish
ACT: 28

j.irvin, I'm an engineering transfer also (got put on the waitlist). What are your stats?

haha here comes the negative things, to me i feel there good stats but obviously what i think doesn't cut it but i have around 3.0-3.1 GPA depending on how u calculate it. I have all the classes they require me to take, plus more classes which i have to since i've applied to uc's as well.

Taken 15 units worth of physics
Taken 15 units worth of calculus plus 6 units of linear/differentials
4 units of computer science
11 units of chemistry
all english done and speech
statics, materials

21 plus hours worked per week plus i participate in 1-5 hours of extra curricular activities. Don't think i have a shot due to the GPA being lower than the average compared to last years admittance, but im hoping that my work, extra curricular and all my major related classes done will help me get through.

What about you mediocre? what engineering major did you apply for?

Mechanical Eng. I will be finishing all required pre-req's and many of the desired ones(like the pre-req's listed on the site) like series classes, circuits, statics, etc by this spring. I wont have a materials course done, but statics fills that requirement. What schools even offer that class anyway?

I wish the csu's had their applicants do an update, because I had 3.34gpa when I applied and now it is up to 3.40 after fall semester grades. I hope I get in, but I don't know. Admissions for this school seems unpredictable sometimes.

I think, j.irvin, that you will definitely get into Cal Poly Pomona, if not SLO. Did you apply to that as a backup? (i did)
