What's the best method of transportation to get from NYC to the McGill campus?

I was wondering what McGill students who come from the Northeastern US typically use to get to the McGill campus. Bus? Train? Plane?

Right now my options are:

Plane: The fastest and most expensive, and would also need to pay additional to get to and from the airport to campus.

Bus: Middle option. Looks like the bus station is a bit far from campus.

Train: Looks like the cheapest option but not much choice in terms of arrival or departure times. Longest ride. Looks like train station is right near McGill campus.

Downtown Montreal is very compact. The bus would be the best option. Take the Green Line m

I don’t know if I’d survive a bus ride from NYC. If you don’t mind spending the extra time, the train is also the most scenic option, and likely more comfortable than the bus. Don’t know about Amtrak, but in Canada, VIA Rail offers free wireless internet with all its trains now (if you plan ahead, it’s a cheap and relatively fast way to travel to Ottawa and Toronto from Montreal).

Amtrack is pretty cheap if you pick the right date, my trip from Philly cost $65. Might even be less then Greyhound. I’ve never taken Greyhound but have heard it’s a bit sketchy. A plane is a plane but it’s gonna run 3 or 4 hundred. You can take the metro from the bus station for $3 and take the STM shuttle (747 bus) from the airport for $8. Once you get familiar with Montreal, if you’re planning on travelling around a lot you might want to consider getting a monthly bus pass, then you can get back and forth to any of those places without spending extra money.
