What's the *worst college in the nation?

Haha! Dang. I forgot about Pensacola Christian College. I actually lived near there at one point. Here's a link to an information site that was apparently set up by former students though it looks like most of the testimonials have been removed. I remember seeing them last year and they were per-itty scary! Here are the Student Reviews.

This is a really tough one. We've got a few great ones down South...

I'm voting BJU for now, but let me see what else I can come up with.

I, uh, actually went to a middle school that had textbooks by BJU and teachers that graduated from there. The teachers were nice enough, though the religion teacher's lessons were a bit "fire and brimstone." The textbooks were hilarious, though, especially the earth science one. It explained why the Big Bang theory and evolution were sinful heresy, and spent three chapters trying to prove them wrong. The literature and grammar books only used excerps/examples from the Bible and other Christian novels. The math teacher actually refused to use the recommended textbook because it taught Christian catechisms more than it taught algebra, and opted for a community college textbook instead. They tried showing us promotional videos from BJU from the eighties (actually, I wouldn't worry about the rules about interracial dating, as every single student in the video was white anyways).

I went to an all-girls Catholic high school afterwards. Compared to middle school, it felt like friggin' Woodstock. They even taught evolution!

However, I'd have to vote for the college with the "effort rule" as the worst college. C'mon, what's the point of even going to college and learning then?

Wow. I still think Bob Jones deserves the prize for "accredited" colleges, now that they actually are accredited (isn't that amazing). But PCC is a real eye-opener.

here's one that doesn't compare to bju, but no one would return here.

All I gotta say to uc_benz is three words - Guilty By Association

PCC ate my parents and raped my doberman. It is the most evil college on the face of the earth.

[/quote]

that says it all

Well, while we're busy stereotyping political parties shouldn't you be smoking marijuana and fathering illegitimate children like all Democrats do?

I felt the Lord was saying, 'Go to Bob Jones.'

Thanks to PCC I'm an athiest!

hrm, interesting.

Bob Jones U. Actually, I'm considering going there on a visit, just for fun, with one of my cousins. She goes to Catholic school and all, but has very good scores and it would be fun to call up and talk about how she's interested in their college. Then show up in bitty mini skirts and tube tops, lots of make up and jewelry, platinum blond--or maybe green--wigs, anarchy pins, and ask questions. "I've worked as a stripper at a local nightclub over this summer. It's been great, made lots of easy money, fun work. Are there any nightclubs or gentlemen's clubs where I could continue that job?" "I'm interested in learning more about some religions, paganism, wicca, buddhism, maybe Islam, would classes be available?" "I'm an anarchist/communist/socialist/member of the green party. Are there any clubs I could be involved in?" I guess I have a somewhat mean sense of humor at times.

I dunno, I've been to a couple of colleges that I wouldn't mind nominating, maybe they weren't that bad though.

Hey that sounds like a good idea, CynthiaR. I think I'd like to do this too one of these days.

Cynthia,
If you do that, there must be a hidden camera involved ...

oh, so to you guys, conservative christian colleges are bad? i find that offending as i'm a christian.

^....there are plenty of conservative christian colleges that haven't been nominated...i don't think ppl are dissing the idea in general...just the extremes like BJU and PCC...which are definately extremes

And? I am a Christian; however, there is a difference between conservative Christians, and extremists who use Christianity as an excuse.

As just noted, many Christian universities have not been named, because they do not cross the line.

One school sent me something in the mail saying they'd waive my out-of-state tuition if I had a 2.5 GPA and a 920 or 950 SAT score. I thought that was sad, if not "the worst university in the US."

There's a difference between Christian and crazy, bigoted, controlling, obsessive, outdated, and, in the case of Bob Jones U, unaccredited. You'll notice that many, many Christian colleges are not on this list, simply because they aren't ridiculous like BJU.

Any school that controls more aspects of its students like than my parents controlled when I was five and controls them in a way that promotes prejudice and condemns individuality is worth my vote.

uc_benz : The next Bill O'Reilly. :)

Have fun cheering for another bigoted Republican President!

Crypto --- the term "American Taliban" is a bit scary, but i agree if there are any, they might as well be republicans.
