Mine is definitely Gotan Project. Their synthesis of that sterotypical posh French resturant sound mixed with a very modern and mixed beat is phenomenal! I do recommend it for the collegiate.

The music evokes a beautiful yet industrious aura in me

none when reading or writing a paper
when writing short papers, or questions or doing maths problems I turn on some electronic beats that I can’t quite describe… Kinda like cafe del mar if u ever heard of it

This may sound really weird, but I always listen to the Cirque Du Soleil soundtracks.
So far I’ve got La Nouba and Kooza, and a few random songs from other shows.

If I listen to anything while I’m working, it has to be the radio - if I know the songs too well, it gets distracting. I listen to classical or jazz stations from back home (KDFC, KCSM) that are streamed over the internet.

If I understand math and I’m just working on problems to get the kinks out, I like to listen to dance music. I can’t listen to anything while I read. When I write I like classical music, but I know nothing about classical music so it’s usually just the Harry Potter soundtracks.

Clutch. Specifically their album Robot Hive/Exodus. For some reason I can always concentrate on my homework well when I listen to it. It’s a great album, great band (even if their lyrics are strange as hell).

I listen to a mixture of classical music and electronica. Vocals tend to distract me while I’m studying. I’ve currently got a man crush on Edvard Grieg.

A lot of my friends listen to classical music when they work, but they admit that it’s going totally over their heads, so they don’t mind listening to it passively. Classical is too distracting for me, so I just stick to other types of non-vocal music. I really like Merzbow in that respect because I can subconsciously appreciate the layers while I work, and it doesn’t require me to be highly engrossed in the material.
