When applying Early do you have to submit...

your 6 week progress report to the college that you are applying early to? I heard that your guidance counselor has to submit a special progress report so that the colleges see where you are at during your senior year. Does anyone know about this?????????

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

you mean your mid-year report, which you don't need to hand in till around january at least...?

quit panicking, damn it. you're making me nervous.

no, what I mean is... If I am applying early action does my guidance counselor have to send in my progress report (6 week grades) now to show how I'm doing currently to the college that I'm applying early to? I know about the mid year report but that is for RD not early action.

Thanks!!!

Read the directions on the admissions website for the college you are applying to. If it asks for that report, then let you guidance counselor know. [in 3 years here on CC, I have never heard of a 6 week report however] And relax.

Thanks Menlomom. I heard from a friend who is applying early to Brown and he said that colleges want to see how you are doing during your senior year before the Midyear reports so they ask for a 6 week progress report ONLY when applying early action. Thanks for your help.

if anyone else has heard of this please let me know - I'm stressing!

OK, here is a better explanation of my question. If you are applying early action, do you have to submit your quarter grades? I understand about sending in mid-year reports because those come out right before RD so you have time to send those in. But, early action is too early for the mid year report, so do you send in your quarter grades or do you just wait until mid year report and if you get in then you send it to them?

HELP HELP HELP

Wait until mid-year.

this would have been in all-caps if not for that damn auto-uncapitalize function...

lolz, agreed.

Actually, my guidance counselor told me that my school sends in quarter report to schools as soon as our grades become available. I can't get her not to send it b/c she was like 'colleges want to see how you are doing'. So check with your school actually.

Also check with the college you're applying to. Some require it, some don't. Read the instructions on the websites; this information is not hidden. Or if you can't find it, call them and ask.

On a related note, do schools ordinarily factor in senior year grades equally with the first 3 years? My D is hoping to raise her GPA with this semester's grades.

My school did it. Any seniors applying early had to go around and ask their teachers to submit a grade to teh guidence counciler before ED apps went out.

Thanks for the info and help.

I know that many of my son's classmates are hoping to increase their GPA's first semester before they apply Regular decision. Usually the first semester if over right before Christmas break and apps aren't due until January so first semester grades are important. I did check the websites of a few colleges and they don't say anything about first quarter grades when applying early action. They only list info on sending in mid year reports. Anyway, my son is going to check today at school with his guidance counselor to see what his school does. Good luck to everyone with those first semester grades!
