When do we hear about scholarships?

I'm guessing that they base it just off of SAT scores and GPA bc/ it says on their website:

Academic scholarships
These awards are not related to financial need but are based on a competitive evaluation of an applicant’s academic credentials and record of extracurricular involvement, leadership, service and special talent.

so i guess that means that you don't need to file the CSS to be considered

congrats to you all. My D choose Loyola last year and is a freshman. Agreed that the tuition is seemed high but what good school isn't these days.

We have absolutely no regrets and don't see her as being as happy anywhere else.

She is working hard and will declare as an engineering major (she may have already). She is also in the honors program. When I look back in retrospect (especially turning down other schools that were offering full tuition scholarships to her) We have had no question that Loyola was the right school for her ... for us it was more than just acedemics (as a high achieving student this was really important as she loves to learn), but a whole life experience in new cultures, enviornments and every thing that Loyola has to offer.

One thing we also liked was the way the meal plan is structured. She has not spent anywheres near what the other schools charged for meals . We also liked the housing options available for freshman and then upperclassman.

one of the most important questions you have to ask yourself, is do you see yourself there and being happy in the enviornment .

I didn't realize Loyola Maryland had engineering. Can you elaborate?

My son's best friend is interested in Mechanical Engineering, and Catholic is on his list.

He and my son both go to a Jesuit HS, so maybe there will be schollie opportunities for him through that.

My son is looking into Marquette, with Catholic as a possible, but we haven't visited yet. Maybe we'll try to visit Loyola Maryland while we're up there.

We had a Loyola college from up there come to a college night, and we got the impression it was an all girls college. Is this a different school?

We'll definitely look into it. So glad I checked this post!

If you get a chance go to one of their open houses. They are great. That sealed me on applying to Loyola and it is one of my first choices.

montegut... definately go check the school out. Their program is Engineering Science with concentrations in either computer, electrical, mechanical or material. An into to engineering course is in the freshman year, then concentrations classes start in the second semester of Sophmore year.

We went to the school a few times for the open houses and were able to sit in and listen to the professors tell about the classes. I don't remember what that "open house" was called but you should be able to get more details on their web site.

It is not an all girls schools. The friends my daughter has made is split between guys and girls.

We made a visit to see her last weekend and again, seeing her in the enviornment, saying hi to all her friends as they were coming back from spring break, reaffirmed my feeling she wouldn't have been as happy in any other place.
