Non top 10%.
Applied 21st of Dec.
Got in late January.

i hope i get in. its my first choice school. and now i'm super worried. i applied as a bio major. does anyone know how competitive that is?

^ My friend with a 1750ish SAT & top 32% class rank got into Bio so you should probably get in too, even with a 1690 SAT.

i really hope so. i haven't heard back yet. and that is making me worry i won't get in. some other schools i applied to screwed me over. as i picked bio as my major. just because its so competitive.

do you think the whole out of state thing will help or hurt me?

I sent my application on the 15th of January, which was originally supposed to be the deadline until it was changed to the 28th at the last minute. I’m also from New York and have absolutely no legacy at A&M, plus I’m only top 20% with an SAT score of 1680. My main concern is the date I submitted my application; do you think that will bare any significance on the admissions decision?

i’m an in-state resident and i applied end of oct.
im top 24% at my high school in plano with pretty good grades. 1780 on SAT
haven’t heard anything yet but i really hope i get in.
i haven’t volunteered anywhere at all so will that affect my chances?

^^ YES, It will hurt ur chances, pyrotech13. With mediocre Class rank and Test score, the only thing that can back up ur Stats is ECs (volunteer and all that stuff). But being instate rely helps tho.

i’m an out of-state resident and i applied end of oct.
im top 13% at my high school in new jersey 1690 on SAT
325 volunteer hours and i have a decent amount like 5 EC activities.
its my first choice. are my chances decent?

haven’t heard back yet. will we hear by april 1st. or later?

Mid april at the latest.

40%, 1930 sat, applied late november, havent heard yet

Hmm, I am getting from this thread that is there is little rhymn or reason to getting acceptance or denials back based on time of putting in ones application. That does make it tricky.

I spoke to admissions the other day and was told to have my twins submit there applications right after August 1 for the upcoming year. I was hoping we would be hearing early.

A&M has rolling admissions, so their advise is always to get your application in early as spots will fill up as the year progresses as opposed to taking a look at the whole pool at once in the Spring. Of course, the automatic admits (top 10% and academic) are processed as they come in. When it comes to the review applicants, they are processed in an entirely subjective way. Review applicants who have compelling qualities will be offered admission earlier in the process.

What is compelling? That is a bit of a mystery. There are so many aspects of a student that A&M looks at aside from just “scores”. You will see many posts from rejected students who have better grades and SAT’s than admitted students. A&M really seems to value the “whole person” view of a student in that they want to see excellence in a variety of areas such as leadership positions, extracurriculars, community service, team performance, work experience, etc. I think they also value a particular desire to be an Aggie, that A&M is your school of choice rather than just one of the list of 10 places you applied to. With the top 10% law, both A&M and t.u. are feeling really hampered to shape the type of student body that is the best fit for their institutions. The review admits are their chance to do that.

The majority of review admits are probably treated more like a regular decision applicants in that they are not looked at until the Spring. So, even if you submitted your application early, it doesn’t necessarily equate to an earlier decision. A&M also seems to be among the latest schools in Texas to return their final decisions for everyone.

damn, I guess I’m pretty screwed then. Oh well.

has anyone heard anything yet? does you status say they sent out your decision. cause mine hasn’t yet.

ahhhhhhhhhhh getting very nervous.

my friend submitted her application in january and hasn’t heard back yet…have any other out-of-staters gotten their decisions??

i’m out of state. and haven’t heard yet.

We are from out-of-state and my son was accepted in November. He was a review candidate. However, he was awarded an Army ROTC scholarship and is joining the Corps of Cadets, so that had a lot to do with his early acceptance.

haven’t heard anything today either. did anyone else?

i think the next wave is going out tomorrow or something. at least that is what i think i heard somewhere.

my ais went to step 4 today
