When is the last day to send an update to Harvard?

I have a variety of awards coming in this month(its highly likely), so when would be the last day to send in an update for them to consider it? Is it already too late?

If not, it is very very close…

=oooooooooo

Friend. Harvard-aspirant. It’s March the 15th. What do you think?

And does it matter? What if it IS too late? Will sending it cause them to shred your application?

Just do it and stop fretting.

^^^ Or, to put it another way: Updates sent after March 21st will NO LONGER MATTER as ALL decisions will have been made! (The Admissions Committee must send all accepted students files to the financial aid office for review prior to decisions being mailed out – the review process takes about a week . . . so, in actuality, you have about 6 days to send an update. GET TO IT DUDE!)

I don’t know, but I just sent one!

Well, I was asking this question as a senior, but I’m really a junior. I’m wondering if I should plan on competing in a prestigious competition next year if I get back the results on like March 19th. I know thats most likely too late… but might this help if I get waitlisted lol?

The quick short answer: NO, the results will not be back in time to matter; don’t waste your time (at least from an admissions standpoint).

I would hope that you’re motivated to enter this competition because it suits your interests, not because you can send it in an update to Harvard or any other college.

@gibby

So, when do you think is the latest date that Harvard will consider updates in the admissions process?

I’d send it in today next year if you got 150 AMC.

Working backwards: Harvard sends acceptance notices on the last day of March/April 1st. Before acceptances can be mailed, the financial aid office needs to calculate a FA award for each applicant that has applied for aid. That takes time, especially as Harvard admits about 2100 applicants. Realistically, it’s going to take about 7 to 10 days for the FA to calculate aid for every student that needs it. So, my best guess is on or about March 20th – and that’s when all decisions have been made. If you’e planning on sending an update notice next year, it should be WAY before the cut-off date.

Sorry for keep pushing this but the timing is pretty crucial lol. By “WAY before the cut-off date” do you mean like 2 or 4 weeks?

JT: how can any of us really know? Whatever answer we give, will that alter your course of action?

Admissions committee meetings occur in the last 5 to 8 weeks PRIOR to accepted student files being sent to the financial aid office. See: [Harvard Gazette: Applications to the College remain near record levels](http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2006/02.09/05-apply.html)

“This year the admissions selection meetings began on Feb. 1 and will conclude on March 21.”

I just heard back. My message was added to my file, so I believe that now is not entirely too late

I sent an update but I didn’t get a reply… Did you send it to fileroom or fileroom2?

Fileroom. I got a reply from both.

Perry772: What’s fileroom?

Also, since Spring Break is here, does that mean they won’t really look at it until the week admissions decisions are released?

^It is where you send updates to applications that get printed and added to your file. The officers are still working full time until they finish making decisions on March 21
