<p>I'm trying to balance crafting a good application to Plan II and Cockrell with finishing early and applying for housing. When should I have the generic UT app finished by?</p>

<p>I suggest paying the $50 for housing by October if you are trying to San Jac or Duren. If you are trying to a non-Jester housing (e.g. Prather, Moore Hill, etc) as late as Thanksgiving was fine for me last year.</p>

<p>Are you in an honors program? Then you should get in, as long as your roommate preference (if it exists) is in honors. If they are not, you will not get honors this year.</p>

<p>It is hard to be 100% sure you will get into honors, and you can only live in an honors dorm if you are in an honors program. If your back up is Jester, there is not too much rush. If you want to be able to choose San Jac or Duren if you don’t get into an honors program, you should get your application in earlier.</p>
