We seem to be getting answers that are all over the map (or, rather, calendar). I was torqued over the April 15 date, I called Eastman Admissions and was told the undergrad decisions were coming in "the next two to three weeks." The will be out by "the first week of April at the latest."

She also said the offer and the financials will be going out via email, followed up by snail mail.

Has anybody heard back from Lawrence Con yet? I called and the admissions people just told me, "by April 1st..." But, honestly, they told us at the auditions that the decisions would be mailed around March 15th...

I just talked with Eastman's FA office. My Son's FA file is complete, but they can't start awards until all Vocal Performance decisions have been made. At that point, they can go down the list from top to bottom. They said, hopefully, they can have FA offers out by April 1. They also said they would e-mail the info when they send out the award letters.

I then asked about the Lois Rogers Scholarship. I asked when they would make the decision on which students are offered the scholarship. She said the process was something like: Financial Aid, Admissions, and Academic Affairs, each qualify students for the scholarship. Almost sounded like the FA office forwards names to Academic Affairs. Students who are qualified by the 3 offices are then offered the scholarship. I didn't quite understand how they avoided giving out too many scholarships (qualifying too many students). The person I spoke with may not have the details right. I had presumed that, at some point, they have a list of qualified students, and pick the winners. I just wanted to know when the picking was going to be done. They seemed to imply that it was a continuous process (know as soon as the kid's file is processed), not a discrete process (selection committee).

Don9992, I highly doubt they're attempting to dissuade people from attempting to negotiate FA offers. Many of these schools have had massive amounts of auditionees..

My son always says to remember that musicians are known for being disorganized. Our experience with the music school admissions process certainly confirmed this. I wouldn't assume anything until you've heard from them - they are probably just not organized.

I figure we are a teensy weensy percentage of parents waiting for our kids results. When you think of how many kids are applying to these schools....it would sort of be against our kids best interest if they rush thru the process. I would much rather they take the necessary time to evaluate each audition with the time and care they need to make the ideal decisions.....even if that means waiting a week or so longer then is comfortable for our tummy's!! :) I also remind myself if I can't handle waiting for these results, I'll never manage to live thru his professional auditions.

Our son is applying for MM performance for fall.
So far, he has two acceptances, one merit award, NO FA packages and two schools with no news at all.

Has anyone heard definitively from Boston University School of Music about admission? I know that faculty sometimes say they accept you in their studio, but when will the BU admissions office make it official? Also, does anyone know if BU sends the financial aid info at the same time as admission decisions? Apparently you can check on your BU Web Log in to look for results but I do not see any yet.
