During the Parent Info Session on audition day Eastman told us that they make decisions by instrument. When all the auditions are complete and info is ready for a specific instrument, then the committee reviews those files and notifies students as soon as the decisions are made. They do them instrument by instrument.

So, as we have seen on the Master list, it seems like some files have been completed.

My S has a cellist friend who got their denial letter last week and also knows second hand of other cellists who have heard.

A violist at Eastman told him that the viola studio is notoriously late. So we anxiously wait.

The Eastman admissions page now says that decisions should be made by end of day April 1 and that if you have not heard by then that you could contact them to find out the status of your admission. It does not say how the notification will come.

Another cellist friend heard of his acceptance to CIM Wednesday.

We are also waiting for results from 3 other schools.

Trying to keep positive thoughts for everyone :) .

slovesviola, were all the cello decisions you heard about for BM? Were any of them acceptances? Because we have heard nothing from Eastman so far!

I just called NEC Admissions. The guy said to expect a response via snail mail around April 1. He said it would include a decision and, if you got a yes, your financials.

I was talking with Mrs. 9992 this morning and we agreed on something that was worth sharing: this forum is really helping us deal with this @%$@ wait for results. It's comforting to know that a lot of other people are being driven as crazy as we are. It also helps to check the acceptance list and see that nobody has gotten anything from the schools that are keeping you waiting. I guess we're all in this together.

Does anyone know in what order Oberlin is e-mailing out acceptances? I haven't read of any RD voice acceptances yet, only piano...should we be worried? D auditioned on the 28th.

I don't think it matters when the audition was held, unless it was an early review audition in December. I suspect that they have a lot more voice applicants than piano, so that department may take a day or three longer to get all their results out. Hang in there and good luck.

For all of us who have young singers in the family...take a deep breath, remember to "support" and then exhale slowly.. repeat until all schools where your D/S chose to audition are heard from.
If it makes it easier, I will share what a kindly secretary in an admissions office told me- VOICE begins with a "V" and the second letter is "O", which places it AFTER "viola" and "violin", hence, at the end of the alphabetical line-up. For most schools, this is the order in which they notify, so we have to wait, and wait, and wait.
I thought, being a single parent, that waiting like this was even harder, but I agree with don9992- this forum has been a real help and I'm really glad to know that he over to peruse the Acceptance Lists first thing! Hysteria loves company!

PS-just to help others rest better, nothing official from Eastman or CIM (e-mail for the acceptances, snail mail for the FA info)

Does Oberlin even email out acceptances? I thought they only send out letters. I haven't gotten any emails from them about the admissions decision...UH OHHHHH

No, they email them as well. Someone on the acceptances thread specifically said that they had just gotten an email. Note that it takes a while for them to send out all the emails - they are just getting started. Also, sometimes the emails take a while to get delivered or get lost entirely. Hang in there.
