It is hard not to feel left out. Everyone seems to have scheduled or already had an alumni interview. I haven't even been contacted. I live in an area with an extremely high concentration of Yale graduates. Anyone in the same boat?? I am almost compelled to call the ASC Director listed on the application confirmation letter.

As much as I like Yale, their admssions system is disorganized. It seems that they are the ONLY college (obviously they aren't, but it seems so...) that doesn't have an online tracking system for application materials. For all I know my guidance counselor never sent my transcript, or it got lost in the mail, or something. Whether my decision is favorable or unfavorable, I just hope that they read my entire application with ample time to evaluate it.

I feel very left out but at the same time I'm extremely worried bcuz I want the interview to be in time for my application. I mean there might be quite a few applicants from my area (although I wouldn't expect it to be more than like 50, including RD) but why haven't I been contacted!!!!!

I also am getting paranoid that maybe I deleted an email from the alum as spam or sumthing. Eeekk, it just makes me stressed out.

Well would they email you or phone you? And I heard you shouldn't worry if you don't get one. I think it's a first come first served thing, and obviously its not the case that the first applicants are all the best.

I submitted my application several weeks ago, as well, yet many of those who have scheduled/already had interviews submitted their applications on November 1. Clearly, it is not a first-come, first-serve basis. I hope someone calls/emails us soon.

You know what's funny? I was whining in another post [just today, mind you!]about how I hadn't gotten an interview, and then within the hour I got a call from a Yale alumni requesting one.

Maybe it's just a matter of timing: what can be sorted out the quickest, etc. I submitted my application on Oct. 31st, and I think part of the reason why I got an interview scheduled so quickly is because I live in a region where hardly anyone applies to Ivies, EVER. Muchless gets in.

If it tells you anything, I have to drive an hour to my alumni interviewer's house on Sunday. I think that's quite a ways, as far as distance is concerned. I'm lucky that there is even an alumni anywhere in my area, since it's so rural. If it hadn't been for this one gentleman, I don't think I would've gotten an interview based solely upon the fact that there would have been no one to interview me!

I have doubts about all of my materials getting there, too.. don't worry! I'm sure we'll be contacted, though, if we're missing anything.

Yale emailed me saying that they will mail me with all that stuff that they do mail, only most university mail gets to me about three weeks to two months AFTER it is mailed due to my location overseas. So I am worried as anything about missing my interview w/o even noticing. I know a Harvard alumni in my area but Yale-wise I don't know anybody at all so I'm not even sure I will get interviewed. So I am somewhat worried and I do share your pain. hug

Same boat here!
only to add on top of that, my application has not been received yet, though I mailed it 10/30. (I only know this because I haven't gotten even my return receipt from the post office yet!)

AHH! This is so frustrating! 5 people from my school applied to yale early...and they ALL GOT INTERVIEWS!!!! so obviously there's at least one nearby! Would it be bad to call?

I'm in the same position - no interview yet - and I live 20 minutes from Washington D.C.! There's a huge yale alumni association nearby, but I haven't heard from anyone yet.
People who don't have interviews are likely to be at a disadvantage, and I don't want my app to be hurt by this...

Really? On the website it makes it seem as if the interview is not of much importance. I'm one of the two students that is applying EA to Yale (I think) from a highly competitive public high school in New York City. We both have received appointments for interviews. Except I have to head to LI, and she has to go to the city, which is ironic because if we stitched interviewers it would be a much more convenient commute for each of us. I presume it's the intended major aspect.

Keep your fingers crossed, if you really want one, they have until early December to do them...

The deadline for interview reports is 12/1. If you are really freaking out, it would be OK to call your ASC director at this point. Be kind to him/her as these folks are volunteers with busy work and family lives and, depending on where you live, may be inundated with applicants and having a hard time getting everything sorted and scheduled by the 12/1 deadline. Also be prepared that the ASC director may tell you that an interview is not possible. Yale understands these logistical problems and won't hold not having an interview against you.

If Yale waits until your entire file is complete before notifying your ASC director, then it could be that teacher recs, etc. could have held up your file so that even if you got your materials in early your file was not complete until more recently.

Some interviews are initiated via phone and others via emails, so do check your email carefully.

Do you think that Yale waits until the official college board report is sent before arranging an interview even if all the other parts of the application are in including school report, teacher recs, transcripts?
