where to get water at ucla

where do you guys get your supply of fresh drinking water at ucla?
do people usually jsut bring a case of water bottles? is there a place to fil them up?

what ive heard that people usually do is buy a bunch of bulk cases of bottled water from ralphs or something, adn shove it under their beds.

hey...great question jason..i've been meaning to ask that (keep forgetting though)

i hear a lot of ppl do what mario said...but are there any alternative ways?
the only other thing i've heard is buying a water filter...thingy...but is that allow in the res plazas? i would think this is the easier way...the only con i've heard is that the taste, even after filtering, isn't as great as bottled water

I usually bring a water filter and a case or two of water with me. The water filter is for when I'm in my room and bottles I generally will take on campus with me if I know I'll be on-campus all day. In my opinion, the filtered water tastes fine and its definitley a lot cheaper and more convenient then having to lug so many water cases to your room.

Get a glass. Turn on tap. Fill glass. Drink water.

Easy. Take a Nalgene to class with you

You don't need bottled water or filtering. The water supply is certified safe by the city and university. This isn't a third world country with a contaminated water supply.

Buying bottled water is ungodly expensive. Don't waste that money.

LA tap water tastes like garbage.

ughh tap water

no f-ing way i'm drinking tap water

yeah no LA tap water. you CAN taste it and its actaully unhealthy because there was a contamination a couple weeks ago for our groundwater source. arrowhead can be cheap in bulk.

A- Bottled water is not THAT expensive if you buy it on sale (which it ALWAYS is)/at the right places (ex- costco).

B- You clearly have not tasted LA's "certified" tap water.

I spend the money on bottled water. LA water may not kill you, but it is not exactly the best tasting thing in history.

I have had LA tap water many, many times and it isn't bad at all. I have had much worse water in many other towns. Try drinking the water that N. Platte NE gets out of the Platte River. Or the water in Saint Louis. Just about every town that gets water from anything other than a deep well has water the tastes different. After a few weeks you get used to it.
I would not waste money buying bottled water unless I was going to be traveling, otherwise I drink what the locals drink.
Bottled water = total waste of money.

Look fool, go ahead, drink Los Angeles tap water. It tastes like cholorine and bromine and all sorts of other cleaners because guess what? It's packed full of that stuff just to cover up the horrible contaminents in it! In fact, just recently the city announced that tap water is not safe to drink in large amounts or as drinking water at all. If you want to have your skin turn blue from the chemicals, fine by me. But I'm sticking with bottled spring water. I suggest everyone else do the same.

That report from the water utility says that it is safe to drink the water. All it mentions is odor. Before you post stuff check on your sources.

I keep a Brita water pitcher to filter the tap water...
The tap water in SoCal tastes bitter compared to the tap water in NorCal.

you are free to drink the tap water if you like. the rest of us will drink bottled water. even if tap water is 100% safe (which it isn't), i would stil pay the extra for bottled because of taste.

This looks like a good opportunity for the enterprising UCLA student with a car.

Yes! I have a car and a costco membership. I could make bank!

If I cared enough.

I guess the "starving student" syndrome must be a thing of the past.:)

Well, I'm a senior (and thereby less poor...somewhat) and attached to my family's membership. It is nice.

The gallon jugs of water at the hilltop. Cheap and about the same price as 1 of those water bottles from the vending machine :)
