I’m an incoming freshman at BU. I’m at the College of Fine Arts, and plan on becoming a part of the rowing team.

I’m torn between living at Warren and West campus. I lived at Warren over the summer during a summer program, and it was okay. The food was decent and the rooms were fine. I know that West campus is a lot closer to the college of fine arts and the boathouse and has better food, and it has a whole floor dedicated to the CFA. On the other hand, I hear that it’s a lot quieter than Warren. I want to get to know my class, but I also want an easy commute to my classes.

Also, are the doubles any different in West than they are in Warren? I just want a student’s opinion.

ok so im a freshman who currently lives in west campus and from my experiences, i like west better than warren. west has better food and the dining hall stays open later than most. we are closer to CFA than warren although i would have to say the walk is negligible.(only 5 or 10 minutes more if you lived in warren) west campus is also pretty cool because you live right by stuvi 2 and theres a study lounge on the 26th floor which oversees the entire city of boston. also you have about a half half chance of a getting a room which over looks nickerson field, and if you get a higher floor, you can see a lot of the city. it is definitely quieter in west campus and it doesnt feel like a jail/prison.

as a side note: my roommate is currently in the CFA and he is almost never in the room except to do hw. as a CFA student, you’ll most likely be out and about with your friends from CFA and hangout with them all the time outside of your room

You’re definitely on the right track by choosing either West or Warren (don’t consider other dorms as a freshman, they are nicer but you will miss out on the freshman experience trust me you will regret it).

I live in Warren now and I like it a lot but I am in SMG so living in west would be a hassle. I would choose west if I were you because there are very few CFA students in warren, it’s mostly CAS/SMG/ENG students whereas west is mostly CGS/CAS/CFA/SHA students.

I’m a freshman in Warren. The food in West is better, but the food in Warren really isn’t bad either. We have a better salad bar… I prefer Warren to West, which I suppose has to do with living there and loving it. For freshman year, it’s perfect for me. Talking to my West friends, one major difference is that West floors are split into four without a common room. I hear that generally you get closer to your section. There are triples in West. Meanwhile, there are no triples in Warren, which has one quad and large corner double per floor. In Warren, each floor has a common room. I think that makes the unity on floors a lot bigger since there’s a meeting place for everyone and it’s less separated. Honestly, that’s the best for me since my floor has become very tight. I love it. I think that’s where the louder stereotype comes from, since otherwise West is semi-social too. It’s central to the main part of BU campus, even though it is true that you’d have a bit of a bigger walk to CFA…nothing too crazy though. CFA is right over the BU Bridge, probably about 10-12 minutes from Warren.

As for the individual dorms, they’re very similar in Warren and West. Warren has a bit more storage space but it’s not some drastic difference. Either place you can get lucky with views. At West, you can get a neat Nickerson Field view. At Warren, you can luck out in A-tower with a Pru/Citgo/Fenway/Kenmore view or in C-tower with a BU Campus/sunsets/West Campus view. In all towers, you have the possibility of looking out on the Charles River…even though there are lots of creeper views on the other towers too. Just as in West, you have the chance of looking into an alley. It’s luck of the draw. You’ll probably be happy wherever you choose…so go with your gut.

freshman staying at warren towers, and the only thing i regret about warren over west is the fact that west is right next to fitrec and the food is better. other than that i am happy with west as it is right in the middle of campus and right where all my classes are.
