im planning to apply SUNY Binghamton, Albany, New Paltz, and Stony Brook.
im not sure oneonta and oswego. which one is better for psychology major??
n im also applying to Univ. of Minnesota. NYU probably.

those colleges that i mentioned above are hard to get in??
could you rank them?!
btw im an int'l student n attending school out of US.

As an international student, what led you to the SUNY schools? Are they well known outside the US?

Of the schools you listed, Binghamton is the best overall by far. Also the hardest to get into, naturally. As an outstanding school with cheap tuition in a huge state, demand is enormous and admission is highly competitive.

Stony Brook would be next best. With a major hospital on campus, their science and medical fields are pretty good. Albany is ok academically, but I would visit before applying. It’s not the prettiest campus, mostly a 1960’s-era concrete jungle. New Paltz, Oneonta, and Oswego are smaller schools, roughly comparable academically, none especially prestigious.

How did Minnesota get on that list? It’s nowhere near NY. Don’t know enough about UMN to comment, but they generally have a very good reputation. NYU is good, but it’s almost triple the price of SUNY and not significantly better.

Do you have the grades for SUNY-Geneseo? They have a great Psychology program and is considered by many to be the best of the SUNY’s. After Geneseo, Binghampton would be the clear second choice. I have a close friend that attended SUNY-Binghampton and earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She thinks it was a great experience.

Your list is confusing, you have the SUNY schools, NYU and Minnesota, an odd mix of public and private and geography. What made you pick these schools?

Of the schools you listed, I would choose NYU if you like the idea of living in NYC. If you like a more rural location but not too rural with a nice college town and a 90 minute ride to NYC, the New Paltz is your best bet. I have first hand knowledge of both schools, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. Both good for psychology.

I chose SUNY cuz I heard that it’s cheaper than other colleges and it’s good academically.
For NYU, it’s because of reputation. I also heard that Minnesota has a good psychology program that’s why i want to apply.
well… I researched about best colleges for psychology and I found Michigan-ann arbor and Illinois-urbana champaign but it seems like those two are much harder to get in.
Actually state doesn’t matter. I don’t picky about state.
