USC (Marshall) or UT (McComb)..I want to do real estate developement

USC, i think.

If you're amazing and can get into the McCombs business honors program then UT otherwise I think the balance tips towards usc

I know you didn't mention it but check out UW-Madison's real estate program. It is top in the nation. You must, however, apply to the business school in the spring of your Sophomore year.

Here's the deal. UT-Austin is a fantastic school - uptown Austin is much cooler than the dirty, crappy part of LA that USC is in. Alot of Trojans are from Cali and most Longhorns are from Texas (it IS public), so not a huge amount of geographic diversity there - besides, the business school at either place is going to be mostly white and asian anyways. UT is also half the price of USC (assuming no financial aid or scholarships) and USC is way overpriced. Plus at USC you have to deal with all the "omg I am such the awesome SoCal/OC, Chanel-sunglasses-wearing, hot sorority blonde tanning on the palm tree scattered lawns" people (do not bash me - I visited and have a good friend who goes there so I know how it is). Both are obviously tops in football, and both have great alumni networks and business schools. USC was my first choice a year ago but after more thought I decided it was pretty much an SMU (my hometown college) in LA and that I didn't want that so I didn't even apply, and now I'm going to UT McCombs. McCombs fares better in the rankings (almost all departments are top 10 and the undergrad school is ranked #5 by USNWR) for reasons I'm not sure of in compared to Marshall. Both schools have a party-school reputation but with good academics and they are probably more alike than different, but you just need to figure out which you like better. A word of caution - if you have never been to Texas and go to McCombs, you will feel out of place. Also, I think McCombs is harder to get into from OOS than Marshall is because of the fierce competition for those 5% or so OOS spots at UT.

Also - UT dropped its real estate program a couple years ago so you wouldn't be able to major in real estate, but there are still Marketing, Bus. Admin, Finance, Accounting, MIS, International Business, Business Honors, and something else I think?

I am from texas..and I know of UT and bhp..the thing is they dropped real estate and that is something I wanted to do.

BHP at McCombs attracts all the top i-banks and consulting firms.

jpps1- really? wow. I really want to go to USC just because prob about 15-20% of my school goes to UT and I want to get away from texas... but whatever college has the better business program i will end up going to (currently junior). thanks for the advice!

business honors is so hard to get in though. anyone know the usual stats of people accepted to BHP?

Since the two are comparable, I'd go to Marshall since it's in CALIFORNIAAAA!

I'm going to have to go with USC on this one. Marshall kicks ass.

guys..which is a better business school..UT austin or UIUC?

ut austin without doubt

honestly uiuc and ut-austin r in a dedlock

no way - UT is ranked #5 and every one of its departments is ranked top 10.
