I eat breakfast everyday too....it ed me off on the weekends when they serve eggs, pancakes, etc. starting at 10:30 AM. *?!

my favorite dining hall is gushi. (wink!)

mmm...kimchi fried rice, extra spicy...

also, try the kimchi jiigae (kimchi soup) if you're feeling adventurous. go beyond the combo plates and bowls!

i have to say that as a korean...gushi's has some pretty good kimchi jiigae...but it might be a little too spicy for others

Korean food ftw.

I want to go to k-town a lot and get some tahoe kalbi. :]

If I can eat at the resident hall restaurant without enrolling in any meal plan ? and is there any different in food between plan? or just the number or weekly meal is different? thanks

Yes, you may buy individual meal tickets at the front desk prior to each meal you plan to eat at the dining hall. You may also buy a 5 meal pass.

There is no different food between the plans, or else there would either be chaos in the system, or the dining hall services would need more to hire more personnel to perform checks ... not a good idea.

so great, do you know how much per meal pass is ? I heard my friend said that it;s like buffet in the dinning room that she can eat as much as she want to !!!

I had the ramen @ gushi once. WOW was it terrible. I like their bulgogi.

do you really have to add that in every post? srsly?

i think its ~$8 for lunch and $11 for dinner. never actually bought one before so i cant tell you for sure. look up the numbers for the front desk of a res hall and ask them. :p

On a ucla page for guests, it prices breakfast at $11, lunch at $13, and dinner at $15. Not sure if it's different for students. I tried to find the answer, but could only come up with this.

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Dining at the Residence Halls

And yes, it is always buffet style in the dining halls. You may eat as much as you want and as unhealthy (unhealthily?) as you want. There are no meal police. It's the add-plates-to-your-tray-at-will style of dining. And there is often a salad bar, too. Lots of room for meal customization, and different dining halls will have different options from each other, and also differ depending on the day of the week. Some have theme meals on certain days.

great thx so much saltybruin. That's exactly what I wanna know

Well then, you're welcome! :)

i second the kimchi jiigae at gushi (though i'm not korean. heck, if only they had budae jiigae...). rather spicy, though.

another filling choice is the kimchi fried rice they have (ask for extra spicy, they put sliced jalapenos in there).

Either they increased the prices or this isn't for students. I remember the prices were in $1 increments, something like $10/11/12. Not sure ..

Hmm what the hell. From what I know. It was like 6/7/8 or 6.5/7.5/8.5 or some other variant on the non whole dollar part. This was for students though. I am not 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident b/c one of my commuter friends had to pay so I swiped him in often with the lovely 19p. I gave that guy like ****ing 50 swipes the whole year I think. And when brawl came out, all his friends came and I used a CRAP of swipes on all of them. Of course this was like the end of the quarter I think.
