The essence of a party school is being in the middle of nowhere, giving you nothing to do but get hammered as much as possible from playing Beirut and drinking the cheapest beer available. This is why Dartmouth is the ultimate selective party school. Anyone who disagrees just doesnt know what theyre talking about. Other selective party schools include Amherst, Cornell, and to some extent Duke. UVA is also a party school that happens to be an excellent school as well.

Non-selective party schools are definitely most schools in the SEC, especially Georgia and Ole Miss. Florida schools cannot compare to the rest of the SEC in terms of parties. Unless you have experienced an SEC party school you have no idea what a party school is. Some of the schools being mentioned are highly dubious. U Michigan, Yale, Princeton, UCLA, and any school in Florida are far from party schools. Just cuz they have beautiful people (except Yale and Princeton) doesnt mean they know how to party.

umiami=big party scene, not very selective
princeton=not big party scene
gtown=eh, i never see much goin on when i visit
w&l=drinking 24/7 (and selective)
upenn=never visited, but hear its tons of fun, i have lots of friend there and in surrounding colleges
middle of nowhere schools (dartmouth, middlebury...) i heard are more stoner than drunks
duke i hear is lots of fun, nyu definitely

I don't have a lot of basis for comparison, but I would have to say that Georgetown is a pretty big party school. Work hard, party hard - you know?

Ditto to Dartmouth (hello, middle of nowhere and most everyone being in a frat), W&L (ditto), MIT (although it's almost not partying so much as competitive alcoholism), and Georgetown.

Doesn't New Orleans have a drinking age of 18? Tulane must be quite the party school.

Tulane is a yankee school in the South but yes it is somewhat of a decent party school, mainly because of Bourbon Street. Other yankee schools include Emory and Duke. These are schools where most kids come from the North and are usually looked down upon by true Southerners. Noneless, they are decent party schools with better acedemics than most of the other Southern universities.

Dartmouth is definitely the select party school. My school, Cornell, has a crazy party scene as well but Dartmouth has a longer history of hardcore drinking (it inspired Animal House). The problem is with these elite party schools, the girls tend to be on the ugly side. I pose a new question: Which selective school has the hottest girls? My vote would be Amherst or any other elite LAC.

There are parties EVERY night at Georgetown. It's not as crazy as other schools(thankfully), but there definitely are parties on and off campus daily. Just walk down O Street or Prospect Street at night, and you'll definitely see/hear parties. Go up on the Village A rooftops, or walk behind Village A(usually people leave their doors open or blinds open so you can tell that parties are going on), and you'll see tons of people drinking/partying. A very large number of Georgetown students(Gtown did a survey last year and found the number to be around 80%) drink alcohol, however, they(i don't drink) don't get staggeringly drunk, in general. People usually watch out for others(I remember seeing a girl who got a huge cut on her leg on the first floor of my dorm on night, after a group of ppl came back from a party, and one of the guys went to get some bandaids and other things to help clean her up(all of this while the security guard looked confused at the desk,lol)). Gtown students also go clubbing, etc. down on M Street(which has TONS of stuff to do) and other streets near and far from campus. Georgetown(as well as Penn, which I find has a very similar student population) has a great balance b/w academics and having fun. When it gets closer to midterm and final weeks, the campus definitely quiets down, and the library is PACKED(sigh, it was INSANE last week, i almost tripped while trying to find a desk,lol). People know when it's time to focus, and when it's time to have fun.

Also, I vote Georgetown for having one of the best looking students at a selective school. Can you say abercrombie/american eagle/polo ralph lauren? The girls are GREAT here.

It's a good thing my parents don't know about this website, what with my two preferred schools at this point being Dartmouth and W&L! I swear that I unwittingly fell in love with the schools, not the booze.

Besides the fact that your rude tone was completely unnecessary, you misunderstood every word I said. I think that if my parents don't realize Dartmouth and W&L are huge party schools, they're definitely not the type of parents who are dictating and deciding my college choice. Think before you type.

The UW social scene is very active. Halloween and Mifflin are two of the biggest parties in the USA. Just remember to study Sunday-Thurs and keep the partying to the weekend.
