Which UC tends to offer the best financial aid?

my efc was 5k.

ucsd gave me 19,585  efc =o plus science major so i get a smart grant

Efc = $600

I was surprised. UCLA gave me ~$14,000!

EFC: ~$3,000.

uc!hopefully, that is AWESOME!!! congrats!

tiberius, you can see your letter already? i can’t see it online. it says they haven’t made decisions yet.

wow tiberius… what is your EFC? and did that include cal grant?

Yeah I can see my letter. I made a thread about it when I found out they were up.

morethansunshine, that gift aid includes the cal grant and my EFC is in my previous post.

Morethansunshine did you include Cal Grant in your $15k for Davis? and which Cal Grant are you using, A or B? How much do you think they will offer you if your EFC was $0?

thanks free!

In terms of grants, so far UCI offered me 9.5K and UCLA offered me 11.5K, my efc is between 6K-8K, I can’t really remember. I was actually surprised because I was expecting less from UCLA.

and that’s that it doesn’t inlcude cal grants for either.

i wonder why i can’t see my letter. :(

oh it changed from the last time i checked it. now i got this from DAVIS:

Federal Direct Loan Sub-NH $5,500.00
Federal Pell Grant Program-NH $5,350.00
UCD Campus Fee Grant-NH $630.00
Entering UG Scholarship - NH $8,123.00

Total Estimated Financial Aid $19,603.00

NO cal grant still…
can someone confirm if i still have to pay back the “Federal Direct Loan” i guess i do huh… so that’s that total minus 5,500bucks.
**i hate that you have to put in you UC DAVIS ID number when looking at aids… its too long and i have to pull it out from my email…

and this from UC IRVINE:

Federal Pell Grant (01) $5,350.00
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant $500.00
Smart Grant-National Science & Mathematics YR3 $4,000.00
UC Irvine Grant $10,180.00

Total Gift Aid $20,030.00

EFC for both was $600
I didnt get a lot from UCLA

I got pretty much the same amount from UCSB, UCI, UCSD and UCLA. UCI was the most, UCLA was the least, but there wasn’t much difference. I got the same amount from the Pell and Cal grants at every school. Then there was money awarded by the schools themselves, which varied from school to school. I THINK that’s the Blue and Gold plan. It didn’t cover everything, but I’d only be slightly in debt after graduation. Then there was other stuff, like summer jobs I could get, etc., which was just crap they threw in to show how I could cover all expenses. I was approved for a Stafford loan for enough to cover the remainder.

I’m an independent, so my total contribution is nil.

All in all, with the grants and the recurring summer paid-internship I have, I should walk out of there debt free if I play my cards right.

Good luck to those of you who are having problems.

UCR offered me 13K

wow morethansunshine that is sure a lot of aid from UCI without any loans.

i didn’t get any cal grant and i have a 3.59. :frowning: alas.

I’m OOS (but went to Santa Monica College for my first semester before moving back to DC), and UCSB offered me $35,000 of gift aid + $7,000 of work study/sub Stafford.

Didn’t get into UCLA because I was missing a calc class… Didn’t get into Cal because of Haas (:

wow that sucks ilivefree i cant believe it

bait&switch i didnt know UCSB costs that much :stuck_out_tongue: but thats sure a lot

uci gave me 16k with an efc of 3200
