Which UC tends to offer the best financial aid?

@ chobozor:
Yeah, UCSB is a hair over $49,000 if you’re OOS. Crazy, right?

God, you guys are lucky. I am having the worst time with UCLA’s financial aid department. They only gave me $1800. I’ve been trying to get it straightened out, but I’m getting nowhere. :-(

UCLA gave me more financial aid than Berkeley

^ yup same here!

I am so sad. I don’t understand why UCLA is doing this to me. I got $10k from UCB, $11k from UCSD and $5k + work study from UCSB. It doesn’t make any sense.

kc sunshine $10K for ucb is better than the few thousands they threw at me. I think most people would rather have ucb throw money at them than ucla, unless ucla was your first choice

i got 23k from Irvine  and the another 2k in subsidized loans

liek0806-Yeah, you are right. It’s just that I am torn btw UCLA and UCB and I hate to have the financial aspect get in the way of my decision. I think the reason I was offered so much from UCB is b/c I was accepted into the TAP program, so they see that I am low-moderate income based on that. Are you in the TAP program there?

I got the most from UCI. UCI>UCSD>UCSB>UCLA>UCB. The difference between UCI and UCB was about $3000. I qualify for the Blue and Gold plan anyway (I’m an independent), and I read somewhere that if you qualify for the plan and it’s not reflected in your Financial Aid, it will be by the time classes begin… so hopefully it works out.

i received 17k from ucla in gift aid. not including any cal grants.

where do you see how much ucla offers you

$12,500 from both UC Davis and UCLA in scholarship aid. :)
