Which UC would you decide if....

let's say we have 2 UC'S and get accepted to both. UCSB and UCLA. Ok let's say that in UCSB you get accepted to the full major examples like psychology and global studies. and you also get into the honors program at the school, a chance to become a top student, it's further from home, and second choice next to UCLA. Then we have have UCLA. A really great school, prestige, it's closer to your home, and you really want to go there. You get accepted as a "pre business econ or "pre global studies" without honors, and have to apply to the major once admitted. Ok my question is: which UC would you choose? what are the pros and cons? and why would you go there?

UCLA of course!!! It’s a place to be, and a great motivation to work harder!

LA
LA
LA

Pros: I’ve been known to occasionally drive up to UCLA and then play like I’m already part of the student body.
Why the hell would you do that Beardy?

Sexy architecture, sexy chicks and sexy community.

Cons: I’ll get back to you. Well, traffic can be a b*tch.

UCSB: University of Sex and Beer
The title, although amusing, is part of the school’s character. Last year’s Halloween bash was *****ing insane, but I’m sure this could happen anywhere and probably does.

Pro: Refreshing weather, exclusive location, lively party scene
Cons: The pros

^^laughing

ROFLMAO @ beardy. ■■■■. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. EPIC. Sexy. ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Nice.

Sorry about that, but my pick WOULD have to be UCLA as well.

I would definantly go to UCLA since I’m a Business major. I don’t live too close to UCLA but my older brother goes there for MBA grad school and he commutes (tells me traffic really does suck). Overall UCLA has a great reputation, easier to get into compared to UCB for business, and the campus surrounding is incredible (Playboy Mansion isn’t too far and I got my brother’s connections to get in anytime I want).

The cons are that UCLA doesn’t have a great football team for the time being and it’s on a quarter system which is similar to UCSB.

UCLA is definitely a better school (both in terms of academics and culture). But graduating from UCSB with all this **** under your name will probably look pretty good.

However, an undergraduate degree doesn’t really matter much anymore.

That being said…A good idea may be to go to a school where you are more likely to succeed, and then come out with the grades that will get you into a decent grad school.

Just some thoughts, take it with a grain of salt.

I would personally choose UCLA just for the cultural aesthetic. The fact that it’s in a city is amazing. And UCSB? Well, enough said.

Go Bruins!

shlc, where do you go to or intend in going?

if i had to choose between the two u mentioned, it would be UCLA for sure…infact im waiting to hear from la and davis, and if i get those, it would be LA no questions asked !!!

LA over SB anytime.
For me, LA is waaaay closer than SB. Also if you were an employer, would you hire someone who went to LA or SB (both with same degree)?

LA over SB. It’s closer to me too (I didn’t even apply to UCSB).

But mostly, LA has more prestige. THink about the JOB MARKET. :)

UCSB - only UC with a majority of white students, which means not as much competing against rampant organized cheating disguised as cultural clubs

^^^ Wow.
(10 char)

A lot of people will blindly just yell out UCLA, but keep in mind many of these are high school kids who aren’t even at UCLA, so I would take their advice with a grain of salt. Visit both schools, talk to the professors, and see where you’d be more comfortable.

Umm if you read the forum, most of the people in this thread are transferring this Fall

Haha, so it is. Didn’t notice this was a transfer forum. Oops. I still stand by what I said. I find that CC in general has an elitist view towards colleges where many begin to disregard colleges as they go down the US News ratings. I’m just saying that there are more things to consider than that.

Despite everything, it is your choice, but seriously, I suggest you visit both campuses, you’ll be able to decide that way–at least I hope you will!

Good luck with everything! [:

if you had to list these schools in order not caring about the money cost, but quality of education and econ major what would you choose and why?
ucla, occidental college, ucsb and UCI what are the pros and cons?
