Which year to take the SAT Subject Tests?

Hey guys! I'm in the equivalent of freshman year in my current school (international) and should I try the SAT Subject Tests this year? Or which year should I wait till?

You should take subject tests as soon as you finish the course. say you’re taking biology this year? take it in October (since June SAT passed). Ideally, you should take them in June or after the course in finished. for a language, take it as LATE as possible, so you can have the most background in the language. math depends on if you are in pre-calculus or not. Any more questions and we’d we happy to help.

Many people sadly don’t really know too much about the SAT Subject Tests until the end of their junior or beginning of their senior year, so it doesn’t work out too well.

But yeah, you should take it immediately after the completion of the appropriate honors/AP course. Best time to start would be as early as freshman year (with maybe World History if you won’t be taking APWH).

Thanks! The school system in my country doesn’t run from September - June, so October would be good for me  How about Japanese, cos I’ve been taking it as a third language for 4 years, and have already passed JLPT 3 and 4 a few years ago ._. And is it, well, lame to take for a tests for a language of which i’m a native speaker…?

i’m assuming colleges won’t like it if you’re a native speaker because it doesn’t show you learned anything
(maybe as a 3rd SAT subject test)

If a school requires 2 subject tests, and you take one in your native language, they don’t count it. You would have to take an additional 3rd one. But if japanese is not your native language, then you should try it! There are practice questions on college board to indicate how you would compare: <a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board; It says you need AT LEAST two years, so you should go for it!

okay awesome thanks! and yeah japanese isn’t my native language :)
