My d visited ... 7 years ago! My husband was there for a conference and the rest of us tagged along. We had spent three years in Ann Arbor some years before (I worked in U-M's development office), our oldest daughter was born there, and the girls were curious about the town they'd heard so much about. Our current senior actually remembers a fair amount about the campus, particularly the Law Quad (my favorite spot).

We'll definitely arrange a visit for April, pending her other results. She has a few reservations about the sheer size of it, though she's been accepted by LSA Honors and hopes that would make the experience more manageable. I can say that Ann Arbor is one of the most energetic and enjoyable college towns I've ever seen - and it was a great place to live.

Although I live in New York (ann 11 hour drive...well, 8 when I'm driving), I managed to visited U of M twice within the past year: in September to visit a friend and last month for Campus Day.

In September, the weather was gorgeous. I fell in love with the campus almost immediately. Even though it's huge, you can definitely sense the community that is University of Michigan. Almost everyone was decked out in some type of Michigan apparrel.

I got to check out some of Ann Arbor as well. There are a ton of little coffee shops, cafes, book stores, seedy record shops, etc. Did you know they have 2 of the 5 biggest Starbucks in the country? Well, they do. There are also two gorgeous old movie theaters.

My one complaint:
When I visited last month, it was unbearably cold, even worse than upstate New York. But all the schools I applied to are located someplace equally as frigid, so I guess I'll have to get used to it no matter where I go.

i visited 2/19 thru 2/21/05 for campus days. It snowed 5 inches saturday night into sunday. It was not that cold (i was surprised) and the removal of snow was efficient and didn't hinder any activity we did. They have mechanical snow brooms that sweep the sidewalks!! The only thing was the slush monday--in the gutters of the crosswalk area. have ta watch were you step. I really liked the integration of the campus with the town of ann arbor. It was easy to navigate around central campus..Seemed like alot of things to do. I really liked the campus and the people there.
