Ok guys, i am an out of stater going my second year at ucsd, and here is my story. During winter break, i went back to Las Vegas to stay with my friends, but i have a permanent home address in CA. i just realized that this might be real bad if the residence deputy knows about this. But the optimistic side of me tells me that they wouldnt know, only god knows. So... Just making sho, does the residence deputy have this CIA like database where they can and will even check the air plane tickets that were registered under my name. or am i just worrying too much. O.o Please give me answer and so to help me out.

Thanks in advance!

so you are really out-of state, but you have a “permanent address” in CA? you are worried that “resident deputies” – whoever they might be at UCSD – might find out and, lo and behold, you are charged out of state tuition? is that your worry?

this post smacks of a guilty conscience.

I thought as long as you graduated from a California high school you’re a resident.

well i war paying out of state last year, and this incoming year I am applying for instate and had to submit many documents. I am gonna provide all of them and they are all legit. but one of the requirements was that I had to stay in CA for the entire time. during winter break, i was just taking a vacation to my old home Vegas… i hope they don’t figure out about it and i am just wondering if they have a database of some sort so great that they have access to even airport tickets…

thanks in advance for more comments!

bump, comments, opinions and suggestions would be really helpful

oh and “this post smacks of a guilty conscience.” totally true. but i didn’t know i couldn’t leave CA for winter break… and my Vegas friends really wanted me to visit. i guess it’s my bad in the really beginning
but since i am actually really intented in becoming a CA resident, i thought that wouldn’t matter as long as i have all my ties here.

but plzzz give me some opinions and relief my pessimistic mind, i am so regretful and anxious now that i have done it!! :(
main question is that do they know the in and outs of national airports.

Thanks in advance!

…Come on. Do you honestly think they have the resources to check up on you?

“They” might. Especially if you reduce the population of freshman who were out of state last year (and probably from Nevada) and this year they won an in-state status and tuition. Not too many. Call the guy in and ask them to sign a statement affirming their in-state status – along with specific conditions. If you lie, you can be expelled.

Why won’t this happen? UCSD needs more OOS paying OOS tuition.

Next time you have a guilty conscience, make sure you keep it private.

well i have every intention of becoming a CA resident. i want to become a CA resident not only for the sake of getting in state tuition, but i’ll also get a job somewhere where i live in SF (I know they need lots of medical professions). if i don’t get CA residence status because of that purpose, i think it’s like trapping me here in CA without letting me have fun. if it does happen, i’ll just appeal i guess.

thanks all for the replies!
