Who can listen to music while studying?

and still retain the info during a test?

I need to study with music.. Without it, it's too quiet and easy for my mind to wander.

I do it all the time, the music plays but you don't really focus on it so it's not too hard to study with it on. I do all of my projects with music on, it makes things less boring lol.

Listening to music helps me with studying, but not completing assignments. I have no idea why.

I'm the opposite of chronic...music motivates me to get work done, but I need quiet when I study, otherwise I forget all the information.

I only study while listening to music. I have trouble concentrating in complete silence.

i cant even read or think straight when im listening to music..

I need to be in a relatively silent room to study efficiently.

Like, a place with a little bit of background noise (not a tv).

Only when I'm studying for physics...odd.

personally i hate "normal" background noise. cause sometimes it becomes calm. then a burst of sound. then some annoying scratching type background noise you cant pinpoint. ugh.

I thrive on music. I play hardcore music or some variation of metal and my essays write themselves and my textbooks frolic into my cranium. It's a miracle how I study/do homework. I even play guitar while I study. The TV is also always on and I'm texting the whole time so I guess I don't share this problem.

i have like pop/alt rock on. half of the time its emo sounding.
this translates to a calmness that helps with cramming in info. metal/etc. makes me pumped up. which is BAD for me when i try to retain info lol.

Yiruma. Soothing, but your mind doesn't wander too much.

No. Cannot study with music.

Writing essays is the only thing that music helps me for...and BS'ing in general.

@ people who can't concentrate w/o music: What happens during SATs when it's extremely quiet and there's no music?

I can only do it if its math or chemistry. Some work that doesn't involve reading/

It depends on the type of music. If I listen to any sort of pop or rock music, forget it. I'll be too busy focusing on the words to actually do homework. If it's classical music, either piano or symphony, I turn into a homework machine.

it's reallyyyy late and your start to shut down, techno can help you maintain that "rhythm" (this has been learned from many an all-nighter)

if im making something, yeh. if theres reading involved, no

Only if it's classical/without words.
