My best friend is seventeen, a senior, and does not have her permit yet. Needless she is always asking me to give her rides.

Man, this sucks everybody. Unless you live in Manhattan or something.

heh, maybe i'm wierd but...

i took drivers ed as soon as i turned 15 (you're allowed to get your permit in my state at 14 and 9 months, though...)

i proceeded to get my license on the date of my 16th birthday, exactly.

despite this, i waited the maximum time possible to take segment II of drivers ed, and i didn't take the road test until the day before my sweet 16. needless to say, i was petrified i would fail the parallel parking part. thankfully i didn't :)

what state is that? 14 is really early for a permit!
Here you can get a permit with drivers ed at 15, and without drivers ed at 16.
I didn't take it, so I waited until I was 16 and 1 month, and got my license 5 months after that.
I don't really understand the point of needing a permit that long.

My permit will be expiring in the next two days. I got it almost a year ago, and while I can drive well, I still haven't gotten around to taking the actual test. I don't really mind.

You kids are such worryworts. I'm 23 and still don't have a license. With college and work I never had any time to take a road test.

We can't get a permit or license till 18, under Taiwan law.

I don't but I am getting my learners permit soon, because in NYC you have to be 18 to drive, but its not that bad because I usually just take the subway/taxi or bum a ride.

i live in michigan. and yeah, 14's really early, but you have to go through extensive drivers ed first. 24 hours of classroom time and 6 hours of driving time with an instructor. plus you have to get at least an 80% on a written test of 100 questions. the test is really easy though...i got 100%, and my instructor said he'd never had anybody fail. which was sort of amazing since there were kids in my class with the IQ of a rock...

I'm seventeen with no intention of getting a license. I have a crippling fear of the road and I plan only living in places with a strong public transportion system.

Well in Michigan its actually 14 and 9 months..so thats almost 15. I took drivers training in june and didnt even go to get my permit until september! I've only driven 6 hours since then. My mom wont let me drive with her so that leaves my dad and so i never get to drive. Did I also mention I have a twin sister so I have to split the driving time with her? I'm turning 17 in a month!! It's not like I can go take a drivers test when I'm 18 because I DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE! I need more practice but my parents wont let me. Oh well

Sorry about my rant,.

even when i turn 17 in june i still wont have a license. i really dont care cuz i dont have a car neway and both my parents work and they need their cars and we dont have a spare one or something.

I didn't get one until well after I was seventeen as well. I'm broke and wouldn't get a car, so what's the point?

I only got one to drive myself from hs to college 3 times a day in sr yr.

I'm 18, still nothing.

My mom doesn't let me drive, she won't pay for insurance, and she won't pay for a car.

I'm never going to drive!

:D

I thought I was bad when I waited 4 months after my 16th birthday...

I'll be seventeen in less than a month and I'm not even planning on getting a license. However, my dad's pressuring me to get it, so I think I might. He and my mom just need someone to run errands for them now that my brother has his own life, lol.

I got my license when I was 17 and 11 months.

I'm 17 and I've had my license for about 6 months.
But my parents will only let me drive to school...which is 2 minutes away.
The only time I can go places is when I skip school.

^ lol...that sucks... -_-;

unless she skips school regularly...
