Man, it sure does suck. And it'll be 5 months till I get it, and by then Ill be less than 5 months from 18 (I dont know about other states, but when youre 18 in Texas, you dont have to get a permit, you just have to pass the test to get your license). Man, should of taken care of drivers ed stuff earlier.

It sucks even more when you've held a permit for 18 months and still haven't bothered to take the test to get your license.

Perhaps I should sign up for one soon.

I got my graduated (between a learner's and a full license but you still take a road test) two days before my 18th birthday.

Don't worry about it so much.

I got my permit at 16 (we're allowed to get it at 15) and I still have it, I'm 18 now. I just couldn't be bothered with driving right now. Maybe one day...

I'm almost seventeen and i've had my permit for California for over a year...I know live in Iowa >.<

In Indiana your permit only last a year.
Pretty much the main reason I was able to get my license when I did...

in california a permit expires after a year

anyways, i got my license 7 days after i turned 16. only 5 more months untili can legally drive my friends around!

I'm seventeen and don't have a license. I'm a senior, too. I was going to get it earlier this year, but my car's brakes gave out and my mom was/is overprotective of her car. Luckily, I'm getting it next thursday. Now, problem, no car...

5 months? wow... here you can get the license and then you can't take passengers for 90 days. after that it's a regular license.

^ 6 months... but i dont know anyone who respects the rule.

nope in california you have to wait 1 year to drive passengers. i've had my license for 7 months.. but who's counting?

Ooops... you're right. I was thinking of the rule BEFORE it changed... it used to be six months but the stupid government HAD to change it...
All my friends have notes from their parents that say that they can have family members in their cares and I just pretend I'm a cousin

I'm 5 months away from being 18 and have absolutelyno type of license or permit..then again I'm an international so stuff here works differently. Either way I still drive around, its really no big deal.

My friend turned 18 on Monday, and still doesn't have her license. Here we have to have our learning permits for at least 6 months before getting a license, and if you still don't have your license after a year you have to get the permit renewed. Not only is this friend 18, but she's up to get her permit renewed for the SECOND TIME in January. Meaning she's had her permit for 2 years. She's failed the test 3 times now...

My sister's 25 and still hasn't bothered to get her license. She's been living in walky-towns since high school.

I'll be 18 in March and I've had my permit since just before by 16th birthday... I've had to renew it once already. My mom wants me to get my license over Christmas break, but somehow I don't think that'll happen... you know, if it hasn't happened at some point during the time I've been eligible to get the license (15 months, more or less), then it's not likely that it'll happen during these two weeks. :p

I will get mine next March, and I am 17. I wanted to use public transport and bikes for the rest of my life (which will be possible provided I leave North America for a major city in a first or second-world country).

I'm 19 with two expired permits.

I have a license without a car, so it's basically useless.

I have it worse..i will b 17 in les then a month(january 6) and i cannot get a permit...till i get this eye surgery to fix this eye problem...and i need to get a go signal from my neurologist(my neurosergeon gave me ago signal months ago...) hes more strict and proper got a foreign proper background. blech...he wolnt allow me to do nething my neurologist(ASS hole!!!) and im not even sure this surgery will work!! so theres a high chance i will never get behind the wheel
