@cosmic have you seen the ramble apartments in davis? they are soooooo nice I wish I could live there. its expensive tho

… so you hate the school because they have “bad” housing… and you want to cook your own food… why dont you just live off campus then…

although ): not sure if you can since prolly many of the good off-campus housing might be already leased to the students there…

:T hopefully the good food will cheer you up if youre going to hate your living quarters…

uchappytrain i havent seen the ramble, i heard lots of it because students tend to rent there to live off campus off school

@ Cosmic: The Drake is also an excellent place to live from what I’ve seen from the reviews.

The Ramble (along with the Viridian) seem to have…faulty management problems, haha. It looks so pretty from the outside, but residents seem to have problems not only with management, but with the inside of their apartments as well, hehe… Every single review on Davis Wiki is “avoid this place”–I have not seen one completely positive review about the apartments either.

Just bear with the dorms for a year, and then you can get an apartment with a bunch of other guys in your sophomore year.

I went to Cornell, albeit 40 years ago. The dorms for freshman were terrible. It really didn’t matter. You shouldn’t be spending a lot of time in your dorm room anyway. Even when you are studying, you should be doing it at the library, so you are around other people.

When you are a freshman at a college, to some extent it is like living in the barracks in the Army.

Especially at a state school.

I suspect that there will be some kids going to college who will be living in worse dorms than you.

My advice to you is to look at the glass half full, rather than half empty.

Well my friend went to UCLA and I live near there. Dorm is not that bad. It’s just that apartment around school is extremely expensive, because it’s in Westwood.(one of most overprice place in LA)

If you’ll be unhappy at UCLA, do it. You get what you want, and free up a spot at UCLA for someone who wants to be there.
