Why wasn't I accepted?

I applied as a transfer student for the Fall of 2010 to the College of Science to be a physics major. My second choice was General Studies. I understand why I didn't get into physics because I haven't completed my degree track yet but I'm at a loss as to why I was denied from General Studies. I have :

Most of my Degree track completed

Can anybody here give me some advice? If I send in my Spring grades will it make a difference? I'm just amazed that I wasn't accepted into general studies and so I'm not sure if I could get in, even with my spring grades.

you should call them, if you already had the required amount of credit hours then i dont think your spring grades will matter.

What year are you in? If you’re a freshman, I can kind of see it. If not, that is weird.

How many hours have you completed at your community college?

Very odd that you wern’t accepted.

I’ve heard of a similar scenario. I think it has to do with the overload of freshman who have been accepted into general studies. Were there any vital courses missing from your degree track? Nonetheless, I’d give them a call. I find it strange as well.

aww, i’m sorry to hear that. I also was rejected yesterday, and I also have a 4.0. I only have 25 graded semester hours though, and the gen. studies site says you need 28. How many do you have?? If you have more than 28, then I find that weird that you didn’t get in.

Either way, i’m sure after you send in your spring transcript you will be reconsidered and accepted. I’m hoping the same goes for me.

Adambomb, did they ask you to send in your transcript for reconsideration? My daughters bf is in this same situation. He said they would reconsider him after he sends in his Spring transcript.

Yes, it says "We will reconsider your application for fall admission if the following conditions are met:

we receive an official transcript with your current semester’s spring grades in the Office of Admissions by June 1, 2010"

Same happened to me for engineering so I just sent in my spring grades and I was accepted. Too bad it took them until July to send me my acceptance so I just settled for UT since they got back to me in May. Don’t give up!

how many hours do you have?

I didn’t get accepted into general studies but they asked for my spring transcript, so hopefully I’ll be able to get in. I heard that they do this to every general studies transfer.

I found out I was rejected today too. I have 30 hours with a 3.8 or 3.9. I didn’t realize a&m was Harvard in disguise.

what major did you want to get into?

Mays, and I thought I had a pretty good shot. I had, or am going to finish tomorrow, every indicator course except one. But if I didn’t earn a spot in Mays, I wasn’t going to get ****ed but, on April 30, I find out that Econ doesn’t accept any 2nd choice majors. Then I got switched to Gen. Studies on the first, according to AIS, and My Step 4 showed today, that I didn’t get in. After I clicked on a link under step 4, there was info saying to send in another transcript, but I don’t really feel like waiting until July to get another rejection. I got accepted to UT’s, SMU’s and Baylor’s Econ Majors…I wanted to go to TAMU because my gf goes there though.

I’m in the same boat. I applied to Rice, and to A&M as my safety school. I got waitlisted at Rice, but I rejected from A&M. Im kinda confused I currently have a 4.0 GPA with 25 credits, and with the Spring semester I will have 41 credits with a 4.0. I suppose they want the entire degree track completed. Im also a veteran. I was in the Army for five years with two deployments to Iraq. I thought I would have been an auto-admit. I didnt realize A&M had such “high” standards.

It is weired, Derek. My 2nd choice was changed to general studies too but I was then accepted to it with 3.8 GPS and 40 credits. But I have decided to go to UT since I did not get my first choice. I don’t understand why you did not get in. I think you should appeal.
