Will AP Stats be too hard for someone who is taking Algebra 2 as a Junior?

HI! So during this time of the year, the students at my school select their classes for the next year (which is senior year for me). I have my other classes planned but I’m not sure about math. I really want to take AP Stats and the school will allow me to take it but the thing is I’m scared that it will be way too hard for and that I might end up with a B or a C. Currently I’m taking algebra 2 and I have an A+ but I don’t know if I can succeed in an AP math class. There’s also a regular 1 semester stats class. Can someone please give me their opinion on whether they think AP Stats will be too hard for someone like me or if I should just take regular stats.

Are you planning on taking a pre-calculus class in addition? I don’t think that AP Stats will be too hard, but that depends on the individual student. However, I thin pre-calc will be more valuable.

Yeah I’m taking a pre-calc class meant for seniors following my math track called college algebra.

Good. Well, then, it’s your choice. Like I said, the difficulty of AP Stats will rest, in part, with the student. In theory, you have the math background to be successful. Good luck.

AP Stat won’t be too difficult. A lot of the math is done by running programs through a graphing calculator. If you don’t understand some of the math, it shouldn’t be very difficult for the teacher to explain it to you to help you understand it :slight_smile: good luck

AP Stats will not be too difficult at all! As someone who actually took AP Stats the year following Algebra II, I will tell you there’s not much pre-requisite math you really need to know. As previous comments say, it’s primarily calculator based and the math you learn won’t need advanced knowledge from previous math classes like calc will. I’m confident you should do just fine as long as you try in the class!

I’m a high school sophomore. I’m currently taking AP Stats and Pre-Calculus honors. AP Stats is a breeze, don’t even worry so much about that class. Regular stats, well at least at my school, is super easy and is just a joke. AP Stats is like a minor AP class. You’ll be fine.

AP stats is one of the easiest AP classes. You don’t need to know advanced math, but rather logic and reasoning. I personally found Honors Precalculus MUCH harder :slight_smile:
