if i took chem 50 in high school and got a C?

its a college course, so unfortunately, it will be counted towards my GPA once I begin college next fall..

My goal is to transfer to UC Berkeley, and apparently even if i get straight A's in college, i will still end up getting at the most, around a 3.9 bc of this class and the grade i recieved..

will they care during admissions, or will they realize it was just once college level class that i messed up in high school?

dude. chillax. you haven't even started at a cc yet...and if you already know your major, start ECs, etc that puts you ahead of like 80% of the other applicants.
what major are u applying for?

It will have ZERO effect if you pulled straight A's from here on out. Then you will get a 3.9x with the x being very high. And of couse, do EC and assume some leadership roles.

a C does bring ur gpa down quite a bit though... lets say you pull a 4.0 taking 4 classes for 3 semesters so your gpa would be a 3.85 ... still very good

= ( i know..but i mean wouldt UC Berkeley still see that I pulled straight A's throughout college...and they'll hopefully realize the only reason i don't have a 4.0 is bc of that stupid class....lol so maybe they'll ignore it hah

I have like 2 Bs and my GPA is still 3.9ish (I don't know exactly since I go to two sister colleges). Of course, I'm on the quarter system and I take summer classes too. But it was a b**** to pull my gpa up though. It kept going up by 0.02 lol.

I have a similar question. I had a 4.0 GPA when I applied to berkeley in November. But I got a C in organic chemistry I in the update and it went down to a 3.76. Is it a big deal?

i was in a similar boat. i got a c in high school in intro to psychology....

assuming you get all As in college now, you can not be considered for Regents scholarships at the UCs which requires a 4.0 flat (if i'm not mistaken). Sucks, but I basically went through the same thing.

wow cardinal, that makes me feel better = (...its so messed up that a course i took while in hs will come back to haunt me like this lol dont u wish u never took that psych class?

so you think that if i get all As from here on out, then it won't really matter?

Ouch!
What's your major? It's a very big deal even if you get in UCB. Cuz most UC require 2.5 for o-chem course.
