Will I be Screwed If...

I begin to work on my Stanford essays after October 14th (the dreaded SAT!). Oh by the way, for the Early Action deadline (November 1st).

Depends on how you work, I guess.

same case with me,
if you're screwed, I'll be with you

Haha, same here! Good luck to Studying Stud, quickflood and me lol.

I'm a current Stanford freshman and I wrote all of my essays and short answers the weekend before it was all due. It's not that I purposely put it off until then; I just couldn't think of anything to write until that weekend. As long as you leave yourself time to proofread thoroughly, you'll be fine.

However, if you know that you're a slow writer who needs a long time to develop ideas and continuously rewrite to get a good final product, I would suggest pumping out a few drafts as soon as possible...

hey jimmy, quick question for you:

you said you wrote all your essays the weekend before, now I haven't done any of the app yet, but isn't it true that you have to send in everything together at once regardless of whether you do it online or offline? and additionally, what about your teacher recs, since the teachers send them in themselves?

sorry if I sound dumb, I'm planning to do the app. next week!

I sent everything except teacher recs online. The teachers send recs separate from the rest of your application. Stanford opens up a file and collects your recs and your application in it.

As far as sending the application piecewise - I'm not sure what you mean. I'd send as much of it together as you can, though, and definitely get everything in before the deadline.

Jimmy... are you one of those people who writes their essays the night before it's due?

Because if you are, I'm so jealous. I work for 2 weeks and still don't do well =p

jimmy, don't you have to give your conselor form to your counselor for them to send in? So that means you can only send in form 1 (basic info) and form 2 (essays) online right? But form 1 should be sent in ASAP.

Er, yeah, that's what I meant, darther. The basic info form and the other important one (ECs, short answers, essays) should be sent online, or I guess you could send hard copy if you prefer. Obviously you don't send the forms designated for your counselor or teachers; they send those. Make sure to confirm that they DO send the forms on time, though...

Tiffany, umm it depends. I wrote my first 5-page PWR paper last weekend in a few sittings. Usually I'll work for an hour or two and then get distracted by something (dinner, house meeting, ping-pong, solitaire...etc) and put it off until later, unless there's a deadline in my face.

Jimmy, you're not supposed to know my name. Secret's out, I guess ;)

Um, by Tiffany I meant...Timothy.

So have you guys submitted your app??

so since this goes along with procrastinating...
i'm just wondering, cause the deadline is Nov. 1..
does that mean we can still submit materials via internet on the 1st?

I'm wondering the samething, is it due on midnight 31st or the 1st?

Perhaps that is a questions that the admissions office would best be able to answer.

I would guess that it's midnight Nov 1, since that's the postmark deadline. But I would not recommend waiting till midnight...

does anyone have experience with this? i.e. submitted their app on the first last year?
