Right now I’m 19 and I’m in the 5’5 -5’6 range , I really want to grow 1 or 1 in the half more inches. I actually want to be 5’6-5’6.5. I heard you can grow taller in college in like about a inch and a hall. By the way I’m taking a year off from school this year. Is it possible that I can grow a another inch in college ??
It’s definitely possible! It just depends on a lot of factors. Are you female or male (boys on average grow later)? How tall are your parents? When did your parents stop growing?
^nominee for greatest “chances” thread ever.
If you are truly concerned, go see an endocrinologist.
My son, who is 19 next month, grew 2 inches in the last 9 month. I had a similar late growth spurt as did my brother. Check with your parents and uncles as to when they stopped growing.
Im a female and my Dad is 6’1 and my mom is 5’2-5’2.5 , half of my family is short and other half is tall.
Before my son got braces the orthodontist took an xray of his hand. The hand has growth plates in it and the doc could easily tell if son was going to have another growth spurt. Doc was accurate in his prediction of son’s future height from the x-ray. Don’t know if you can find someone to do that for you but it was fast and non-invasive.
This is, beyond question, the greatest chances thread ever.
High reach
I grew an inch in college. (Female)
Nah tbh 5’ 6.5 is a high reach
You should be looking at more matched like 5’6
And make sure you have 5’5.5 as a safety!
I have a cousin who started college at 5’5" and was 6’ by the end of his freshman year. He must have had a couple of good hooks!
I drifted upward 1-1.5 inches over the course of college. So it’s possible. Assuming this is a serious question, why does an extra inch in height matter?
It really depends on genetics. I stopped growing in 9th grade haha
Remember that many colleges are holistic. They don’t just look at how tall your body is - shoes and hats count, too!
I was 5’0 entering high school. Was 5’4 entering college. I’m a sophomore now and I’m 5’7.
Google: “growth table height” and specify male or female. Keep in mind that these are average statistics.
I believe late growth is more common in boys than girls, but all that says is that it is more common. I was a VERY small person through high school. Tested at UCLA around grade 5 and the doctors said my older brother and I were about 4 years behind bone-wise. I kept growing until my first year of law school, so anything is possible, but, given your parents, I think you’re lucky to be in the 5’6 range. My mother’s parents were about the same as yours, and she ended up at 5’2. My dad was 5’8 and I’ve “topped out” at 5’5. Be grateful for what you have.
