Will my acceptance be taken away?

I have just submitted my SIR to UC Irvine but I currently have a 67%, a D, in Physics. I only have 3 weeks left before I graduate so there is not much I can do to bring it up besides the final. Will UC Irvine take away my acceptance? If so what do I do?

You better ace that final then. Contact the school.

Yes, they will probably rescind you. No Ds. It says so in your acceptance letter.

Live and breathe physics over the next 3 weeks. Meet with your teacher after school, hire a tutor or get a friend to help you. Do problem after problem. Try everything to get that grade up to a 70.

isn’t 67 a C?

The people that know work in admissions at UCI. Posters here can guess. What do you want - to know or to guess?

By contacting Irvine now maybe it turns out its not an issue. Or maybe it is an issue, but by working with them there may be a chance to take a summer class to make up for it. They are going to see your final transcript no matter what, so worrying about “why bring it to their attention?” is misguided because they are sure to notice a D.

As Davis wrote in their alumni magazine

Call them tomorrow

@NASA2014 different schools, or sometimes even different classes within the same school, have varying grading scales. In my school, a 67 is failing in most classes. In some, 75 is failing.

Op, as others have mentioned, calling the admissions office is definitely a good idea. Also, last semester I was also in a similar situation as you, but pulled my physics grade up to an A in the last few weeks of class by doing really well on the regular coursework, along with the final (a large percent of my grade). Hopefully you will be able to get it up to at least a C with the right dedication. Good luck!

depends on what your major is and call the university and talk to an adviser/counselor

Have you specifically asked Irvine about their policy for your last semester? My boyfriend got into Berkeley, and the College of Engineering specifically told him he must maintain a 3.0 and get no grade lower than a C.

I found this on the [UC Irvine website](http://catalogue.uci.edu/preadmissionmatters/undergraduateadmissions/).

Either you or your guidance counselor should call the college’s admission office and ask how a “D” will affect your admission. Does it matter if it’s in an a-g required class or not? If you have 2 years of lab science (biology and chemistry), you may not need the physics to meet the a-g requirement, but find out what their admissions policy is for grades that are less than a C anyway so there are no surprises.
