No decision for my son yet. There hasn’t been any change to his major and the link to change a major is still there (Ag & Life Sciences).

We can still change major as well… getting discouraged.

I hear ya MotoMom. Do you mind me asking what your student’s HS rank is? (Assuming they are a Senior in High School). My son was only in the top 50% of his small magnet school but if it would have been a flat out NO, I assume we would have heard by now. His other stats are good enough to keep him afloat I guess. I confess that I am beginning to be a little OVER A&M at this point. However, my son is not, so the waiting continues. :)

Stay strong! Read in another series of posts that decisions are coming down this morning and Thursday morning. While our click to change major link is gone, we are still at step three and don’t know the actual status.

As of this morning, the change major link is no longer on my son’s AIS page. Don’t quite know if it’s good or bad, still on step 3. We’ll see…

My D was 1) Biomedical Sciences and 2) Bioenvironmental Sciences; #2 is in the AG & Life Sciences

@ geelola. He’s 3 people away from top 25%. We moved from MO to TX in the middle of his junior year…went from 4.0 non weighted school to 7.0 weighted school. Could not get into AP classes because he didnt’ take preAP…but they are having him take three AP tests. More than that because of different requirements in different states, he’s taking two freshman classes and a sophomore class! ie…TX requires speech, where MO required personal finance. His major is computer engineering and he had to take a freshman computer class here…but I was told his program is going to state and she believes he’ll do well on AP test. There needs to be a complete make over of the education system. I’m sure lots of people are in the same boat we are. I don’t agree that a speech class or fine art should keep you from getting into a college.Good luck! Hopefully we’ll all hear something soon!

Motomom- Actuall speech is one of the more helpful classes my D had in HS, learned a lot of useful skills that will help prepare them for college.
I can understand how frustrating it must be transfering though and state requirements being different. I have to ask did your previous school not have pre/ap and ap classes?

Sorry…I just meant in a general sense. My daughter was in speech/debate 7-9 grade and came here and had to take speech…and I can say…she NEEDS the personal finance!LOL I just mean it would be great if there was an “across the board” requirement so kids aren’t wasting hours. Our previous school had Honors classes but they were not weighted. Ex. my S was in Honors PreCAL his junior and someone else may have been in regular geometry…grades counted the same. He also took Spanish and Algebra in 8th but when we transferred it just counted as a P and not a credit. Two other classes he just got a P instead of his A because our current school didn’t have. I am hopeful that the review board is looking at the whole picture and that what all of us are waiting on! Positive thoughts!!

Just moved to step 5; PSA, ugghh.

My son was offered PSA too. Looks like we’ll be doing the CAP program for UT instead.

If you don’t mind me asking what were your son’s stats like?

Jacobt1994 - my son was top quarter and SAT score of 1180 composite. He was on the high school baseball team all four years of high school and the golf team the last two years. He’s really disappointed but the idea of UT’s CAP program is growing on him. He didn’t care for any of the PSA schools.
