Hi, I am new to College Confidential. I got my AP results back and I received a 1 on AP Calc AB. I feel this poorly represents me as a student. I had decided to retake Calc AB again because BC is not offered at my school. I will not receive High School credit but can receive college credit if I pass the exam. Also, I am that kind person that needs the direction of a teacher to get on the ball, so self studying seems like a bad road. Now my question, will colleges see this as a bad thing? I want to apply to schools like USC and UCLA. Or will this just be a bad move on my part? Thanks in advance

If you did decent in the class (C or better) but simply messed up on the exam, I wouldn’t take the class all over again. It would be redundant on your transcript. Colleges wouldn’t know your AP scores anyways unless you wanted them to know, by the way.

I received a B both semesters

Anybody please help?

It’s how twentythirteen described it: it’ll look redundant, and redundant is bad. Either don’t report the score (no harm, no foul), or find a way to relearn the material outside of a classroom setting. Can you form a study group with those currently taking the class? Is the teacher open to discussing the material with you even though you’re a former student? Is tutoring an option?

So, do you think if I report this 1 on Calc to Colleges, will they just be disgusted? If so, how do I remove or delete it from from my AP report?
@Tito Lately i have looked at lot places. For example, basically at all the local community colleges every class for Calc AB or BC equivalents are all full. I have asked the only 2 Calc teaches at my school and they both said to private tutoring because one is extremely sick(has Lupus) and one is busy helping out the Academic Decathlon team and Science Bowl team. I can speak with them about the materials but there is so little time in the I can do so like at lunch and my home period which only brings my totals free time to an hour. But both them are extremely busy. Also, just recently I found a spot in class at a local community college but I have to place into the class but they also want to see my AP score since it helps their decision if I can take their class

heehee, lupus.

From the AP site:

Do you absolutely need to get Calculus done early? Otherwise, don’t stress about it. Just take the courses you’d planned, on and take Calc in college.
